If you’re at all like me you probably don’t like giving off the shelf gifts to friends. I like homemade, something with a bit of thought, love and effort in it. So when Leslie at Decorque Cards offered to send me a greetings card I thought about upcycling it in to a guest book for a friends wedding. Please note the names of the couple are on the front of this card, which is why the top middle is covered in each photo, I don’t want to ruin it. I gathered what I needed for this project… A cute greetings card. (This one by Decorque Cards can be found here .) Good scissors. A ribbon. A hole punch. Some glue. Several sheets of nice paper.
Oliver’s Travels want bloggers to write about funny or memorable holidays. Well Italy 2014 covers it… I bought Jen a soft toy at an Italian market, and we were walking around an Italian river town. An old fort town. Within a short while after taking this photo I was hanging over the edge of the river, one foot wrapped around the railing one hand on a boat rope and stretching like a mad woman for his teddy that’s floating downstream! This was next to a street café, and it was a flipping hot day so half the locals were sitting outside licking gelatos and laughing at me. I’m pretty sure no one, except my Jen, thought the crazy English woman was going to come back up from the edge of the water dry… think of a seaside harbour wall. I don’t think anyone thought I’d grab the toy faster than […]
Happy March. I’m sure you know Easter is on the way, which means buying chocolate, sweets or bonnet and chick related crafts. I’ve had eggs for my lads since early February, so at least I’ll avoid the rush. So what can you win in our Easter extravaganza? Would you believe it one lucky winner will be walking away with a fantastic £200 worth of Amazon vouchers, while one runner up will get £20, to spend on whatever they want – but chocolate seems like a good idea at this time of year. (If the winner is from a country other than the UK the prize will be delivered via PayPal cash).
My lads love drinking milk, a bit too much. Jen never really grew out of milk after being a fussy eater, we would give him milk all the time as a way to sneak nutrients in to him. Dee wasn’t half as fussy that’s for sure. Both of them still call milk “moo juice” even in shops or cafes and it can either be cute or embarrassing. At least they milk comes from cows, it’s worrying how many kids don’t know that these days. My lads have both been to farms, and although they’ve not milked the cows themselves they do understand. I grew up surrounded by farms so I’ve milked cows and goats several times as a child. Goats milk, erm, my advice just don’t! It might make good cheese but it’s not a pleasant drink.
Towards Christmas it can get manic with kids and Christmas lists, and advent calendars, and writing a ton of cards booking a food delivery and and aannnd…. Wouldn’t it be nice just to stop and do something for yourself? A nice soak in the tub with no interruptions? Maybe with some candles, and your favourite music playing and possibly even a cup of hot chocolate? Well we’ve got you covered! I have teamed up with a great bunch of bloggers (again), to offer up the fantastic prize of hamper, which will hopefully have you looking forward to pampering yourself no matter how busy the day has been. Before we get onto the prize – lets meet the lovely team who have all chipped in to offer this prize: Julie’s Notebook | Lisahh-Jayne | Futures | Trials and Tribulations of a Brummie Mummy | Life in a Break Down | UK […]
This Christmas I have teamed up with a wonderful collection of bloggers to giveaway an amazing prize just in time for Christmas. One lucky winner will be walking away with a fantastic £150 worth of Amazon vouchers while two runners up get £30 each (if the winner is from a country other than the UK the prize will be delivered via PayPal cash). I love getting involved in things like this, we have all chipped in to give one of you a pretty decent amount of spending money for Amazon. Spend it on yourself, or buy the Christmas presents with it, maybe even keep it for the dreaded January Sales. Personally I’d spend £150 Amazon cash on a new bunny hutch and toys as I recently got another pet rabbit. She’s called Maggie and looks exactly like Bart and Mo bunny’s previous companion who sadly died within months of adopting […]
My sons were set a challenge to make a “dream house” from Lego so they’ve been busy rummaging their toy box for cool bits. Here’s what Jen and D came up with. This single person accommodation comprises a sizeable open plan living area, a private post box, stone pathways, a long garage, and a garden with fountain, a mature tree and well kept flowers.
Summer is apparently on the way, which for me means way more time outdoors. My skin isn’t fabulous at the best of times, so the change of season brings a slight routine change. Repairing type moisturiser at bed time, my usual teenager-type face scrub in the morning shower, and I apply a thin layer of lotion to my face and neck with sunscreen in as I leave the house. I still get “sunface” but hey, at least I tried. Get your skin gorgeous for summer by winning yourself a Magnitone!
As I mentioned I’ve been working with Thinking Slimmer recently, and listening regularly to podcasts known as SlimPods. I know, I know, that sounds a bit dippy hippy but I reckon it’s been working. I am rubbish at diets and health plans and routines in general actually. This is a lazier way to lose weight, trying to retrain your brain to eat better. It’s the kind of thing I wouldn’t have thought would work, and wouldn’t have paid to do but since I’ve been doing it I think it is worth paying for. But as my boys would yell in a game of tag “Bagsy you’re it, No returns” – Sorry Sandra!
You might remember me saying that I am trying to be more healthy. That I want to lose weight and be fitter? Well this week I’ve been mostly drinking More. I don’t mean drink more like too much and being desperate for a wee, I mean More drinks. It’s a range of flavoured water with added vitamins. It’s certainly an improvement on fizzy pop health wise, and I don’t like tap water. I think I am More’s target audience – I want to be healthier but I’m fussy and don’t want it to taste like a diet item. If it’s flat and boring I won’t be drinking it! These are diet drinks though, as the blue one (get more vitamin A, blackcurrant and blueberry flavour) is just 6 calories with zero sugar for a 500ml bottle. They cost about £1 to £1.50 depending on the shop and current offers. You […]
Staying in is the new going out apparently. I rarely go out at night myself, preferring a DVD at home on the sofa with my family and homemade popcorn. Yes, I’ve become a bit old and sensible. · ‘Blended’ and ‘The Other Woman’ on DVD. · A bingo board game. · 4 face masks. · A £10 supermarket voucher for a shop of your choice. I’d suggest buying popcorn and sweets with the £10 and stick your feet up on the sofa with some mates. Maybe some mugs of hot chocolate and marshmallows.
Chocolate no longer appeals so much to me since I’m trying to lose about a stone in weight. For a short time I did the dreaded calorie count and was shocked by the numbers on my chocolate wrappers. I still love chocolate, I just don’t scoff a “family size bar” by myself any more. A small group of us bloggers are clubbing together to buy one of our readers a lovely prize package (this giveaway will be listed on all the blogs below):
