I heart my pet – Freya 10

It would be hard for regular blog readers to have not realised I adore my woofer. She was a rescue from Dogs Trust, she had been stray and severely underweight. She fitted in here so fast, and although we have only been in her life since October she is now utterly irreplaceable. She loves attention, and being a nuisance to the neighbours cats, and running on the muddy field, and (weirdly) the vets. Most dogs dislike posties and vets, not Freya – she hugs them – paws on to their tummies and wagging her tail super fast with her head squashing into them in a please please stroke me kind of way.

Romantic little things 3

Romantic doesn’t have to be a silly over-priced token gift. To me its the little things that are most romantic. Things like coffee and breakfast in bed, or when Blokey picks up on tiny things I say. As regular blog readers will know, I’ve had a troubled past. For me the sweetest thing ever was when we were talking about 80’s toys as we are the same age. I said how I used to collect Pound Puppies and Pound Purries but I had to leave them when I ran away, and I regretted that. Well I wasn’t dropping hints, I was not asking nor expecting him to find me any PP’s. But he went on ebay when I was asleep and bought a Pound Puppy mummy dog. The ones with the velcro tummy with babies inside. I was so surprised, a simple comment in a conversation, I had forgotten it […]

The Christmas Bulbles Competition 3

Me and my eldest son have been “mucking about with craft fluff an’ stuff” and come up with 4 little “Christmas Bulbles”. Nope, that’s not an accidental typo, its Bulbs + Baubles = Bulbles. As I can’t resist a good blogger challenge type of competition I had to have a go at this one. So D and I sat down, and made rather a bit of mess, had some fun, and came out with these…. D isn’t a natural “crafter” so I set him going with a children’s sewing kit and he stitched together Mr Robin. Bright pink and cute he may be, but he has an evil eye, a glass eye in fact. My first creation was the biggest, of course. I threaded 20 glittery mini-baubles onto a festively red pipe cleaner, then wrapped it around the bulb tubes. Around the plastic cap section I then sticky taped on some […]

A Family Friendly Garden 1

We have two tiny gardens. The back garden is fenced and secure but a mess thanks to the pesky (but cute) chickens. This is the state of the garden, hardly any grass and waterlogged clayish soil. With the current rain it’s boggy out there! The front garden is smaller, and with no fencing but has better drainage and supports a lawn, woohoo. It’s good enough to keep trees alive and happy.

Woof Woof 2

Yesterday I had the “Home Visit” from dogs trust. The final step to adopting Freya, my lovely and friendly but underweight and nervous girlie. She either ran away or was dumped, abandoned, discarded like rubbish. My opinion is she was abandoned. Her personality is sweet and caring, but she’s so afraid and cries her little heart out if she’s alone. If utterly alone she chews furniture and dogs trust phoned me to request a meeting a few days ago as she had chewed a large plastic dog bed, apparently it was merely a brightly coloured mangled mess and no longer a bed. I can’t see a runaway being bothered like that about being alone. The staff call it separation anxiety, and as I hate being alone, and also worry about being abandoned, I understand her a little. Me and Freya woof just suit each other. She is a Saluki which […]

Dentists – Another of My Phobias 3

Me and dentists are never going to be best friends. I started off badly, as a child I had dental issues – I had too many teeth! I had six front teeth, not four and that’s why my front teeth look odd to this day. The middle pair are big, the the outer pair being noticeably smaller than all the rest of my teeth. I remember being gased in hospital to have the smallest set removed, clutching my teddy bear, and trying to fight the gas by talking to my Nan and Gramps.

We Want to be Center Parcs Family Bloggers 1

Recently I got a nice email from Tots100 suggesting we might like to enter a video competition to become Center Parcs family bloggers, which comes with the perk of a free holiday. How could I refuse? We go to most home games at Kingsholm in Gloucester, it was always Blokey, D, Jen and myself. But since D has started at grammar school he has taken to remaining home to do his excessive amounts of home work. D didn’t want to come today, even though it was a very sunny, non autumnal day. Jen on a statue. We were pulling faces, our team lost. No, my nose isn’t broken. If you watch BTsport I’m sure you’ll have seen us at Kingsholm matches.

Big Night In Challenge

Good afternoon, I haven’t heard of Two little fleas before, but they certainly got my attention with this competition to win £750 of John Lewis vouchers. I have heard of Little Stuff though, so I’m in. The idea is to write a post about what you can spend £750 on to have the best “big night in”. As I don’t really do going out, I figured I’d have a go at this. Firstly, I need some housework doing…. I hit google and had a look at prices and it will cost about £150 to spring clean this place. And I want a BBQ as mine went to heaven (might have been via a scrap metal collectors van). This one at Argos seems ok, not too show off-ish but functional. Then I obviously need food and drinkies? We have a Sodastream so I would buy 3 more flavour mixes (at average […]

Budget Bucket List 3

Money supermarket have another blogger challenge competition running. The budget bucket list. Well I heard about this and wanted to join in. I intended to write this post before my skydive, as the MSM logo for this challenge shows a happy, calm skydiver. Skydiving could have been on my bucket list, but not anymore! I’ve done it, I really did it.   So new ideas! Extravagant I would love to swim with dolphins. In Australia. I went to Aussie a few years ago and I utterly fell in love with the place. One of the things we were meant to do was go swimming with Dolphins, near Adelaide. The day before we were due to go out on the boat, a horrible note was pushed under the hotel door, and under the doors of the rest of the group we were with. It said that as bad weather was reported for the next […]

Big Night In – Mice, Chips and Cluedo 4

The lovely folks at MoneySuperMarket let me and my boys participate in another blogger challenge. Thanks guys, you are EPIC! #msmBigNightIn For this challenge they kindly wired (ok PayPal’ed) me Fifty Squids to spend on a family night in. We bought two retro board games that Blokey and I liked as kids, with the plan being fish and chips from the nice local takeaway. So at Blokey’s knocking-off time at work we phoned him to give him our dinner orders to get on his drive home. Jen wanted jumbo sausage and chips, Blokey, D and I all had haddock and chips. The fish was huge, too big, felt wasteful. And a bottle of coke, the real coke not an own brand version as its a treat.

Phota Your Mota 2

Righty, another one of theses Moneysupermarket blogger challenges, love them! Can you tell readers? This one is called “Phota your Mota” {Photo your Car} 😛 Click that banner if you want to read all about it at MSM. Why do I love this car? Well because it’s MINE all MINE! My “mota” is called Custard, and it is a “she”. I have photo blinds courtesy of a TravelSupermarket blogger challenge I took part in a while back. I like that Custard is yellow, and easier to find when I forget where I’ve parked. On that theme I love that pushing the “lock” button twice on my key makes Custard’s horn squeak briefly, again great for locating her! I like most of all that I can FIT in this car. I’m not the tallest person in the world, but I’m certainly not short either, and I have a problem with veins […]
