Do you know I used to smoke? 6

A long long time ago, in a lifetime that feels far far away, I used to smoke. It was 14 and a half years ago when I quit. For advice on quitting cigarettes please Click Here. I had been smoking for years, from before I was even old enough to buy tobacco myself. I had tried several times to quit and never succeeded. I smoked at first to try to “be cool” and fit in, then it became a way to cope with the stress in my teen years. I was still smoking when I met Blokey, but he was also a smoker so he didn’t exactly encourage me to quit! We made each worse I think, when you see someone else light up it was harder to ignore the urge. Occasionally I smoked because I wanted to, but in honesty the majority of fags were sparked up by addiction. We […]

Signing the books, making it all official.

A week ago 1

This time last week I was in a pub, no big deal… except I was holding my new husband’s hand. Friday at lunchtime, almost exactly 15 years since we met I finally married my partner of nearly 15 years. As you can see we weren’t a traditional couple. I wore a long purple dress, and he was in a PacMan suit.

Retirement isn’t grey – The colour report

According to “the colour report” being retired is pretty darn awesome.   Here as a few of the facts from the colour report about over 55’s. – 19% of pensioners polled were a member of an online dating service, rising to 27% of these aged between 70 and 74. – 59% of people aged 65-74 remain sexually active with nearly one in five people aged 75+ still having regular sex. – 14% of over 75s surveyed still shop at younger fashion stores like Zara and Topshop. On top of that, we learned that age really is just an attitude; 79% said they feel younger than their true age, and this feeling only increased with age, with 81% of over 75s saying they feel younger than they are. Essentially, those in their 60s felt 50, and those in their 70s a youthful 60!   Staying active. I’d love to be active as a pensioner […]

The LEGO Movie Trailer 1

The LEGO Movie opens in cinemas on 14th February 2014 and is story of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. Emmet (Chris Pratt) is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which he is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared. Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Nick Offerman and Alison Brie join Chris Pratt to form the cast of the first-ever full length theatrical LEGO movie, the greatest movie ever assembled, which is set to hit cinemas in 14th February 2014. Warmer Weather Makes Things Better

Today the sun is shining, but it’s still rather windy unfortunately. The boys wanted a barbecue but the massive grey clouds have put us off this idea. So for dinner later it will be indoor barbecue. All the same food but under the grill, still tons of bread and ketchup. So far today I got up really late, nice hot shower and outside to hug bunnies. Little Mo has been bitten on his back by Bart, he has a bald patch and a scar. Poor chap, so he’s getting extra hugs and attention. Looks to be healing nicely I’m happy to report. Also cut the lawn and neighbours lawn. Fixed some fence panels in my garden using some nails, a hammer, and plenty of noise! The pets are fed and I had a kip on the sofa watching snooker. What are you lovely blog readers up to today?
