Christmas at Coombe Mill? 1

I’ve wanted to go to Coombe Mill for a long time. I’m in love with the idea of going back to Cornwall and feeling happy, to reclaim my childhood and own it. I love how inviting Coombe Mill are, and how Fiona and Nick are amazingly busy all the time but I’ve never read a bad review. I’d love being in a cosy cottage or lovely lodge, surrounded by the sound of a farm again. I never was a farmer but growing up in Cornwall you were never far from sheep and chickens or the sound of a tractor. I’d love to hug all of their bunnies and farm critters, I’d like to sit outside in the middle of the night with my boys and my telescope and search for Santa in the stars. We could have proper Cornish family fun… a drive to the coast for a boxing day […]

Another Birthday boy – #MySundayPhoto 11

In the last few days my older son, D became a teenager. Do you know how old that makes me feel? When we were at Rene D counted a section of the wine bottles that make up the ceiling and did some maths, muttering numbers to himself. He worked out the ceiling should be filled with 2688, but there are gaps. The odd missing bottle, and bits of woodwork preventing bottles being put in certain places. So D decided it was nearer 2600 bottles. Still my nerd.

#MySundayPhoto birthday boy 12

This week was my little chaps birthday. It’s been a bit of a stressful week for me, Doris Dog needed stitches and minor surgery following a second and a half long argument with Freya Woof. It cost a fortune, but sensibly I had pet insurance so I just had to pay the excess.

The Sun #MySundayPhoto 7

This week was of course the Eclipse, and the first day of spring. Typically that morning it was cloudy and this messed up the chances of getting a great photo of the eclipse.  I took the woofers on the fields and tried to photo the sun.

#WinningWeekends (23 Jan) 7

Its been a busy old fortnight so this post is a couple of hours late. Morning/evening…. nearly the same thing. If you haven’t been over to #WinningWeekends before it is a competitions linky. A list of blog based, open to the UK, competitions. I started this linky as I like competitions and know bloggers can get lots of new followers from competitions. As I am both a blogger and a comper I totally love anything to do with competitions and it is great fun when you win something you want. If you are a blogger, share your competition urls here. If you are a comper just get entering and winning things.

#WinningWeekends (9 Jan) 5

After a little Christmas break WinningWeekends is back. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas?  Did santa bring you or your family anything unusual or interesting? For my lads it was all about the Lego, they love the stuff. Then enough toiletries to swim in, more chocolate than we should have consumed and the classic slippers and pjs. For me by far the best surprise of the last month was finding Doris dog, that adorable little face! I am against pets as gifts, but Doris is here as family – not a possession. Or as the Dogs Trust say, a dog is for life not just for Christmas.

#WinningWeekends (5 Dec) 6

In the last fortnight it has suddenly become very wintery and to be honest it’s begining to look a lot like Christmas. Busy people everywhere and fake snow. We’ve been Christmas shopping online mostly, but I have been visiting market stalls as much as possible looking for craft ideas for gifts. My current plan involves buttons and string and glue and glitter. I also have a rather nice Kirstie Alsopp soap making kit I am going to use, but I am going to add chopped up loafer or natural sponge in the soap to make it exfoliating and a touch quirky. Do you have any great homemade gifts you are working on? View image | gettyimages.com   Anyways, if you haven’t been over to #WinningWeekends before it is a competitions linky.
