A little while back the boys and I received a little parcel of goodies. Aveeno body lotion, cream, bath oil, and a book for the lads. Ellie & Eddie is a book about a young girl and her pet gecko. Scaly lizardlike skin is something I know about. I have had bad skin since I was small and have memories of bathing in nasty oil prescribed by doctors. It was so heavy, slimey and felt as though I had been dunked in a vat of warm lard. I remember the smell, and I remember falling over like a duckling on a frozen pond when trying to get out of the bath.
My eldest son D has been test driving the Argos My Wishlist app on his Android tablet. It is a good idea, it is like asking the children to write a list but this app is linked to real Argos items and can be emailed to Santa (okay okay, via the parents) when they are done adding to their wishlist.
Yes, I am one of those people that give my pets gifts at Crimbo. I have always done this, and I can remember walking around indoor markets and buying my pets very cheap toys with my pocket money at a young age. I consider the pets as family members – even Tan the chicken who hates me. It feels wrong to pile things under the tree for the children without getting them to give gifts to the pets. This will be Freya Woof’s second Christmas living here, and this time she knows what to expect. Ohhhh dear. Recently we received a parcel of pet products from Feedem and Freya has been stealing her bauble toy already. I haven’t actually given this to her but she knows it will be hers. Light pawed madame. Keep reading if you want to know how to make some nice pet gifts.
I know, it isn’t Christmas yet. But it is the season to be shopping apparently. While I am not about to put the tree up just yet I do love to buy and plan early. That is the coolest thing about The Christmas Boutique, it runs all year. You can buy a Christmas stocking in July if you want to. Christmas Boutique were kind enough to send a parcel of festive cheer my way to review. My favourite item is the advent calendar.
This week Freya Woof has been trying out Hills Ideal Balance dog food courtesy of PetShop. After a slow change from her normal food to Hills I can confirm the woofer hound likes the “chicken and brown rice” variety of Hills ideal balance dry food. The food is in the form of lots of small circular shape biscuits. It looks a bit boring, all the same colour and size. Her usual brand Wagg is all different shapes and colours but it turns out Freya is not bothered by the shapes or colours.
That title made you nosey didn’t it? Sorry. Today I received a nice parcel from Gardens2You. They sell garden bits such as wall ornaments, bird feeders, planter labels, fairy doors and gnomes. Very cute gnomes like the website mascot Monty. I like Monty but he’s not without a flaw sadly. He looks great but he’s just not heavy enough and he keeps going missing in the wind. He needs some weight added. I’ll probably drill a hole in the base and pour in some sand and cork it, easily sorted.
Now the kids have been back at school for a little while head lice are rife again amongst my youngest and his school buddies. I remember having awful head lice at school myself, and that I could count the moving critters on the back of a certain girls head. Every time I got rid of them I would get them right back at class. I vividly remember the foul smelling witches brew of a cure that we had as nit treatment back then. Oh the smell would just not fade even if you washed it six times in a row. Luckily times have changed. Allow me to introduce Lyclear. It comes in a spray bottle to make it dead easy and fast.
My Blokey is a large chap, built like a rugby forward player, which means buying clothes has always been a bit of an issue for him. He struggles on the high street, so much so he only buys online now. One of the websites he uses for his clothing, especially his jeans and work suits, is Jacamo. So when Jacamo offered Blokey some manly footwear as a gift he wasn’t going to say no. He chose two pairs of high-tops. One pair are navy blue canvas with white rubber soles, and flat white laces. The other pair are also navy blue but more appropriate for the season we are really in. Sorry Blokey, it’s not summer anymore.
Do you watch Dragons Den? Then you might have heard of Doddle for dogs. It is a great idea, and I am amazed it has not been done before now. It is a dogs collar with a built in retractable lead (leash) on it. This means it is a normal collar when it’s not walkies o’clock and a matching lead and collar set when it is.
Following on from reviewing Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara* I was asked if I’d like to try out the Eye of Horus Goddess pencils. Yes, yes please. Firstly so you can see the colours clearly, here they are on my hand. The pencils are 2 in 1, either eyeliner, or eye shadow. You just smudge newly drawn lines immediately using the special smudger at the other end of the pencil, it is similar to a sponge eye shadow applicator but notably without that nasty sharp bit of plastic they have. These liners go on like normal kohl pencils but after about 1 minute is very hard to smudge, wipe away or blur. Panda eyes? Only if you do it on purpose!
Parragon send me nice little surprises in the post each month as our family are “Book Buddies”. This time I got a lovely pocket notebook and a tin of notecards and envelopes from the Wild stationery range by Life Canvas. At first I thought when would I ever use these cards, and then I saw this message on Facebook. It is getting shared and reshared all over the place.
Today I got a lovely bit of mail from PicStick I just could not wait to open. You choose 9 photos and they post them to you as a sheet that is precut into 9 rectangles but just about in one piece to post. I take so many photographs but in this digital age never remember to print them.
