Shortly before we went on our little “road trip” camping we downloaded a few child friendly films on to the tablet devices. This meant that when we got stuck in traffic chaos on the M5 on the way we had a secret weapon, and also for wet days in the tent. British holidays or staycations can be a bit of a downer for the lads if it’s all wet outside. One evening we had an in-tent movie night, watching Turbo, Rio 2 and The Lego Movie whilst drinking hot chocolate in camping mugs and ignoring the damp stuff falling from the sky.
Feeling Feisty? Families Urged to Prepare for Road Trip Rows!
- In-car clashes commence after only 22 minutes on the road
- The M25 sees the most arguments, with 1 in 5 families having a fracas on the London orbital
- Results published to mark the release of family film Rio 2 on Digital HD
Parents across the nation are packing up their cars and gearing up for sunburn, mosquito bites and bickering as the school holidays are now well underway and the most rows-per-road-trip of the summer. Tensions will rise in one in four families, with the majority of arguments taking place between 10am and 1pm on London’s M25.
One in three family fracas is caused by what music is playing, while children distracting the driver and questions about who gets to sit in front are the other key culprits. Family members passing gas in an enclosed space is responsible for 5% of rows.
With over 2.9 million of us planning a driving holiday, and the average distance travelled over 142 miles, parents across the UK are seeking respite from summer squabbles.
For those parents that don’t pull over and refuse to go any further (21%) or turn around and drive straight home (15%), the humble services become a refuge to defuse tensions.
A Rio 2 spokesperson commented: “With one third of families already using tablets on family journeys, Rio 2 provides the perfect solution to a peaceful journey. The great music and incredible cast means there is something for every family member to enjoy”.
Rio 2 was released on Digital HD nationwide on 28th July, and on Blu-ray and DVD on 4th August. You can buy it in most shops and supermarkets.
