Me and dentists are never going to be best friends. I started off badly, as a child I had dental issues – I had too many teeth! I had six front teeth, not four and that’s why my front teeth look odd to this day. The middle pair are big, the the outer pair being noticeably smaller than all the rest of my teeth. I remember being gased in hospital to have the smallest set removed, clutching my teddy bear, and trying to fight the gas by talking to my Nan and Gramps.
Recently I got a nice email from Tots100 suggesting we might like to enter a video competition to become Center Parcs family bloggers, which comes with the perk of a free holiday. How could I refuse? We go to most home games at Kingsholm in Gloucester, it was always Blokey, D, Jen and myself. But since D has started at grammar school he has taken to remaining home to do his excessive amounts of home work. D didn’t want to come today, even though it was a very sunny, non autumnal day. Jen on a statue. We were pulling faces, our team lost. No, my nose isn’t broken. If you watch BTsport I’m sure you’ll have seen us at Kingsholm matches.
The obvious answer is turn some lights on, but that’s not what I’m going for in this post. If you are in rented accommodation it does limit your options somewhat but use mirrors as much as you can. I have a huge mirror on the chimney breast, it has retro advertising on it and I think it looks cool but it also bounces more light in to the room. Mirrors at the top of stairs are also great, especially if you hang it angled downward as it can bounce extra light down your stairs.
This morning I received a big white box from the postman. It was recorded post too, exciting, I had to open it right away of course. This post is my entry for BritMums’ #KidsGrowWild Challenge”. I took a photo of the lovely gardening kit before the boys got their mitts on it! It had been raining most of the day, but there was a short sunny spell after cycling home from school. Perfect, I asked the boys to come outside and play. Jen was willing but I couldn’t pry D away from Mathletics on the internet. Yes, still in school uniform. We head outside with the plan being plant the seeds in flower pots and pop them into our recently purchased greenhouse to start these seeds off properly.
As it is Spring now, I’ve been outside planting containers. Now for most gardeners that would mean flower pots or rectangular tubs, but today I did something a teeny bit more quirky. As I didn’t have an old toilet bowl, or a non-seaworthy wooden boat I decided on mugs, shoes and tin cans. I have previously used a toy box as a planting tub, I kept the lid so in winter I pop the lid back on to protect the bulbs inside, clever huh? I wanted to plant some handbags and wellies but the charity shops had nothing I liked the look of today. Everyone has seen planted willies but I liked the idea of hanging handbags like bizarre little hanging basket dangling from my cherry tree… that would have been cool, but no such luck today. Ready to get going… I have here some mixed seeds, some cute mugs […]
I love these blogger challenges, Daxon has asked members of its blogger network (see my badge on the toolbar?) to try to make a nice outfit for under £200. Mine comes in at £197 or £199.95 including delivery not bad going I thought. The best bit, one of the Daxon bloggers who have a go at this challenge will win the outfit they have chosen. I never get to spend money on clothes so I’m up for it… First thing I decided was that I wanted it to be a Spring look. The British weather didn’t get the Memo that went round that Winter should be over! Hint Hint. Anyways…. I’ve done for a grey-ish and pale brown theme here, and I would wear this lot together. I started with Capri jeans, I liked the quirky finishing at the bottoms. Also they are in a tall range, so they won’t […]
So much fake lovey dovey stuff is forced in our faces from mid January to make you buy over priced and largely tatt tokens of affection. I don’t want chocolates in a heart shaped box, or a cheaply made teddy bear just because it’s hugging a heart cushion. It’s everywhere, and this year I am NOT playing this Valentine’s game! This is going to be a rant, a personal one. If you know my in real life kindly stop reading. One year ago, on Valentine’s day night, at midnight so he’d think I’d forgotten any kind of gift or love token, totally unexpected to him (I think) I got down on one knee and asked him to be my husband. He said yes, I was so happy. Then he refused to put the ring on saying he didn’t like jewelry, didn’t want it mentioned anywhere people might hear it or […]
On Wednesday I went out to Birmingham, I was on a mission to buy Merlin Annual passes. They have a January sale on, we had been looking online to buy these, but was about £550 online or £360 in a Merlin attraction. The sale prices were “in-store only” which is a bit of a nuisance. So twenty quid train fare was a bargain really to grab £200 ish discount. I am not actually paying, my mum wanted to treat my boys to some fun. Cheers Mummy. So at the station this morning there was some drama. A “fatality on the line” had caused some delays and cancelled trains. Was a bit awkward sitting on the platform listening to other passengers asking why people with mental health issues and depression are let out alone. I was just sinking into the bench on the platform willing the train to hurry up. When I […]
Poor old Dotty was pretty stinky so I’ve just had to wash him.He is an elderly rescued guinea pig, and unfortunately has some old boy habits. He regularly wets himself in his sleep, hence the shocking smell. He also has badly twisted feet meaning attempts at cutting his claws always end with him very stressed and me feeling guilty for hurting him. Just keep reminding myself his feet were broken and bent when I homed him, and I’m only cutting his nails to help him walk without being in pain. And to do this I have to make him upset and uncomfortable. Right now the old lad is sat on my lap, wrapped in a towel and almost asleep. Looking much nicer, and smelling of apples with claws a teeny bit shorter. I’ve added this to a nice blog hop….
Well, what can I say? I think kaboom is a great word for what’s going on. Last weekend I had a mental breakdown, it had been building for some time to be fair. I’ve been saying “I’m fine” way too much, as I just don’t know how to express how bad I feel. Kaboom… This resulted in me wanting to throw myself from the upstairs window on Saturday night, luckily I suppose, I have phobias, including a fear of heights. This meant I just was shaking uncontrollably instead, crying so much I felt like I was drowning from snot, and all around my eyes hurt like I had been punched in the face. I got up, went to work, struggling lots. Sunday night, same thing, so depressed it hurt. My partner had told me to stop snivelling and attention seeking. I wasn’t attention seeking, I was breaking from the inside. […]
My other half is on the motorway driving back now. He’s been away since Sunday. It’s been a stressful 2 days, my boys have been arguing and fighting each other, last night Jen was ill so he was awake until about 2.30am which was fun, then this morning my dishwasher failed mid program. Now I have loads of half washed stuff and a dishwasher full of dirty water. No idea how I can empty it out now, even in stand by it makes a strange growly noise. Can’t even make it start another program, just will not go. Does anyone know anything about dishwashers? I could vlog (video blog) the problem and noise? Really can’t afford a new one after spending so much getting passports, suitcases, swimming shorts for the kids, train to from London, a hotel for Friday night etc. Why do things break when you can’t afford to repair/replace […]
