Shortly before we went on our little “road trip” camping we downloaded a few child friendly films on to the tablet devices. This meant that when we got stuck in traffic chaos on the M5 on the way we had a secret weapon, and also for wet days in the tent. British holidays or staycations can be a bit of a downer for the lads if it’s all wet outside. One evening we had an in-tent movie night, watching Turbo, Rio 2 and The Lego Movie whilst drinking hot chocolate in camping mugs and ignoring the damp stuff falling from the sky.
This week I’m re-taking my driving test, having failed again just before the camping trip to Devon. I lost it in a 5 to 10 second window – I stalled on a major roundabout, had a miniture panic attack and I think it was 5 attempts before I’d restarted – by which time I was crying. Instant fail right there, bugger! I knew it was but after this we kept driving, and I had just 4 “minors” in total, and one of them was “gears” which related to the roundabout incident too, as I couldn’t restart it and hadn’t checked which gear – was second still. Seriously if I’d got first gear, I wouldn’t have stalled, then panicked, then cried, then failed! One mistake, a simple stall and I panic, I hate the “sitting duck” feeling of being on a dangerous bit, a junction, a roundabout, traffic lights, that feeling […]
It’s the end of our holiday in Devon, and I’m happy to have a real bed, and to see my pets. But I’d much rather still be in Devon.
@travelsupermkt #JollyJourneys Competition with @Tots100 I read on Tots100 that TravelSupermarket are after travelling tips for keeping little folks busy in the back seats on long journeys. Well, this is right up my street. We drive to places like Wales, Devon or Cornwall for holidays. We are normally going camping, so the boot is often pretty full. Where we drive to, Cornwall On the longer journeys we have in car DVD players we recently purchased, but we only take a few films. Its for boredom relief if we get stuck in traffic, rather than the main entertainment option. Often we talk for the first hour or so. Car Snap is Jen’s favourite game. This means he watches every car we pass and shouts snap as fast as he can if he sees the same make or model. When we are in Daddy’s car we don’t allow the colour […]
Well today I went out and “tried cars on” thinking would be just window shopping. I’m rather tall, I was more than 6ft tall before my back problem. This means my legs are disproportionately long. Getting on buses hurts as I can normally only fit in the disabled seats… I appear plain old lazy, but I am unable to get my legs in the normal seats. Cars are the same, many are so tight I can’t get in the back whatsoever. As a front seat passenger I’m ok as I move the seat back and put my knees to one side. You can’t do this in the drivers seat as the wheel gets in the way. Plus you kind of need to have control of your feet. Clios, corsas and old fiestas are a no go, despite being sensible mummy cars. I actually want a mini but I’m sure you […]
Hello folks, I have just seen a fabulous competition with Nissan to win an electric car, and help your local area to get electric car charging points. I don’t have a licence myself, so the Other Half entered and I’m trying to help him grab votes or “Turn ons” as Nissan have called it :-O I’m learning to drive and this would be amazing!! Pretty please would you mind voting for us, especially if I have ever voted for you in these kind of comps.
