Last night I had to test out Hotel Chocolat’s Sleekster collection. It was a hard job, forcing myself to eat yummy chocolate. I was so distressed that I had eat some of these. 😉 Ok it wasn’t a hard job. Hehehe. It was flipping lovely. Things I loved included great details in the decoration of each chocolate, the grown-up-ness of it, the taste and that Hotel Chocolat are cocoa growers AND chocolatiers. The chocolate itself is rich and tasty – far from average.
The Breastfeeding trial seems largely unpopular based on the other blog posts I’ve read today, and lots of comments on twitter. New Mum’s offered voucher incentive to breastfeed. If I was offered £200 for breastfeeding my sons I would have taken it willingly. It’s not £200 all in one go, it’s in £40 chunks only dished out when the mum has breastfed for certain lengths of time. For my first child I struggled. I cried in bed in the hospital as my B cups had swollen to about an E within a few days. It was horrible, but I got past this as I was helped in the hospital each evening by the staff after the dinner, visiting time then bed time routines. It would go quieter and I’d get sensible advice. I only managed up to 4 months with D, but I’m glad I tried. I had the dreaded […]
Today Cancer Research UK are launching a video (below) to help the campaign for standardised packaging. That means removing the funky, bold, iconic and eye catching designs from fag packets because children respond to branding. I started smoking young, about 12 years old. I stuck to certain brands, pretty ones. So I do agree with this campaign, anything that makes children less likely to start smoking is a good thing. Why do I care about smoking cancers? I care because this killed my Grandad, Gramps, the man who was a dad to me. Killed by brightly coloured sticks of poison sold at the post office, the supermarket, even the sweet shop. I remember clearly my Gramps smoking, and telling me the dangers weren’t known when he started smoking as a young man. That he knew better now, but he was already a smoker for most of his life, why stop? […]
Yesterday we went out for an Adventure, a grand day out actually! We went to Bristol on the train for the Gromit exhibition.
Good afternoon, I haven’t heard of Two little fleas before, but they certainly got my attention with this competition to win £750 of John Lewis vouchers. I have heard of Little Stuff though, so I’m in. The idea is to write a post about what you can spend £750 on to have the best “big night in”. As I don’t really do going out, I figured I’d have a go at this. Firstly, I need some housework doing…. I hit google and had a look at prices and it will cost about £150 to spring clean this place. And I want a BBQ as mine went to heaven (might have been via a scrap metal collectors van). This one at Argos seems ok, not too show off-ish but functional. Then I obviously need food and drinkies? We have a Sodastream so I would buy 3 more flavour mixes (at average […]
Britmums asked it’s parents bloggers to come up with a no fuss, quick meal using Richmond Meatballs. I love little challenges, but what really got my attention was the chance to win a Center Parcs holiday. I would love to go there, so here goes! My youngest is a fussy eater and one of the few things he will eat is meatballs. He loves the cheap tinned ones, but the phrase “recovered meat” makes me very uncomfortable cooking those for him. But when all he really wants is breakfast cereals, chocolate spread sarnies, or meatballs, what do you do! I do whatever I can to sneak vegetables in to his diet, and it is not always easy.
After my poor Blokey had made me cookies, whilst I merrily slept, he continues baking and cooking. Isn’t he good? This time, Cake! Yummy chocolatey birthday cake yumminess! Fudge Cake Click here to continue reading the recipe at Cadbury.co.uk Let’s be honest, look at the screen grab from Cadburys website. How awesome does this cake look. Hubby had the same reaction as me “Oooh I want to try that one!” Here are the ingredients, icing sugar, baking butter, flour, cocoa powder, and of course, the Cadbury Fudge bars which oddly are not in the picture. At this point stick the oven on at 180 degrees to warm up. (I would really recommend you read the recipe on Cadbury.co.uk which is linked underneath that lovely first image.) Ready to go. Weighing out the ingredients, on the scales is flour, baking powder and the cocoa. In the mixing bowl are a pair […]
I have recently joined Collective Bias, or #CBias as it gets called on twitter. It is a shoppers programme where a few bloggers are chosen for each project, and then you have to plan and go shopping for a particular product, and photo it like crazy. I felt like a spy in Sainsburys. My Google+ photo album – my (not so) Top Secret mission! This mission was made for me, go and buy Diary Milk chocolate by Cadburys. Well it would be rude not to accept wouldn’t it? The mission was cookery, so I’ve had to bribe my partner in to cooking as I can burn salad me. Truly I am a bad cook, and he is great, so it’s the logical thing in this house that the Daddy cooks. First up Dairy Milk Cookies. Two more Yummy Cadbury baking blog posts follow this post shortly… stay tuned! Fudge Cake […]
Well it’s birthday season in mine and my partners families. Most of the birthdays fall between April and July! So not a bad time to discover Baker Days really. They send cute personalised cakes through the post, and it was just the right size to fit through the letter box. I was actually having a lie in when the corrugated cardboard box hit my hallway floor with a thump, but the content was unharmed. 10 out of 10 there, you can buy a cake as a surprise and not have to ask the recipient to stay in and look out for the postie. I choose chocolate cake as you might expect I would, with a lovely pattern and some butterflies and roses. Pretty In the box was a lovely little pastel yellow cake tin and the cake fitted just perfectly in this, which I am so reusing, a little flyer and a mini […]
Here is Jen in pjs, and covered in chocolate spread from breakfast pancakes. He is feeding unbuttered toast to Bart bunny.
My boys are larking around on the Kinect as it’s pretty chilly to play outside. This is their new game, Joy Ride. They have to steer by leaning, and waving arms around. At least they are burning off the chocolate egg calories somehow. It’s funny to watch them though. Bruuuummm bruuummmmm!!!!
Outside it might be cold wet and grey, but today I feel a bit better. At the moment the kids and I are watching Madagascar 3 on DVD from Lovefilm. It’s rather a daft film. Monkeys in costumes dressed as the king of Versailles! We’ve just had sarnies, chocolate, fruit and crisps. An indoor picnic if you will, me and my boys watching cartoons.
