The following review is in Blokey’s own words, and is all his own opinions. Jacamo specialises in clothes for the larger gentleman, be that larger as in tall, or larger as in “well built”. I fall into the latter category being a 5ft 10 inch, 100KG round person. I’ve been shopping at Jacamo for many years even when I weighed as much as 150KG and was obviously a lot bigger than I am now. Jacamo* is primarily an online purchase shopping experience. They have recently started to open stores (in the Midlands and in London) but none of these are local to me in the south west so I have to rely on their distant shopping experience. This means everything is purchased via their easy to use website, and delivered by a local courier company. The website is very simple to navigate, with the clothing line split into categories and each […]
Do you remember back in winter I tested out Wingz*, well I’ve got a new set of Wingz*. Plain black in the tall range. I wear these a lot of the time under normal black tops where the sleeves just aren’t long enough for gigantic ole’me. This morning when I got dressed I was in a daft, quirky mood, decided I was wearing browns and black.
About a week ago something cool came in the post, Wingz. Nope it isn’t a ladies hygiene product or a travel company. Wingz are sleeves without tops, a pair of sleeves you pop on under a dress or top that is short sleeved or sleeveless. The sleeves themselves come in a few options from plain black or white jersery, delicate chiffon, lace or wild prints. If you are like me you dress according to mood and not seasons. I don’t have different “wardrobes” or store my Summer things away until after Spring. If I like it, I wear it. This is why I’ve decided I love Wingz – rather than shivering stubbornly and refusing to get changed I can wear these genius little things under my dresses. Why did I not know about these sooner! My problem now is knowing the words to use, is it a pair of Wingz, […]
A little while ago House of Fraser asked me to pick a new dress. For me that is a challenge, I’m not great at buying clothes for myself. However I had a rummage through the massive selection online – it took me about two hours, really. I am so indecisive. In the end I sent a short list and was sent a surprise from my choices. It was an adorable skater dress with huge sleeves. It is strange, its the type of thing I used to hate, it reminds me of the curtains in my late Grandparents garage but now I kind of like oranges and browns. This is a great mixture of subtle (almost boring) colours swirled into a fantastic print, but the shape is the killer. The skirt from the waist is a full circle. If I spin on the spot it will be out flat like Upsy […]
A little while back I was contacted on behalf of House of Fraser about a picnic outfit post. Well I chose my boys some clothing by name it, which seem to be a relaxed trendy range. My lads don’t really do posh outfits, I wanted something they would wear by choice, not just if I insist they wear it. I was asked to choose up to £50 in clothing for the boys, so naturally I hit the sales section. I did the shopping so well in fact that it was exactly £50, I can’t link to them all though, as they are now sold out. For Jen I chose Navy blue trousers and a “soda” print t-shirt. For D it was also navy blue trousers, a “retro” grey print t-shirt, and a grey and blue hoodie. Sadly the hoodie doesn’t fit D, but he did like it.
You know I am doing that crazy skydive thingyamybob soon? Yes? Well I have come across a marvellous fundraising idea. Welcome to the #WinningWeekends blog competition linky. Same as usual, pop your lovely links in the boxes below. For example put “30/5 Win a gift voucher – MyBlogName” in the box marked NAME if you’re running a comp to give away a gift card and the competition ends on 30th May. I don’t know about you, but I like to have a clue what I am clicking up front, and the closing date is just super helpful as I know some competition hunters look at posts from the last few weeks as well as the most recent post. #WinningWeekends means that bloggers can quickly link up their posts, and maybe grab a badge to show support, and compers can find a few nice competitions they might have missed. Even if you aren’t a “comper” you might just fancy a quick flutter on a few competitions if you are feeling lucky. […]

Recently I attended Shloer’s brilliant blogger event “crafternoon tea”. It was cakes and posh sandwiches, coffee and crafting with a whole lot of Shloer. Fabulous idea! A lovely dinning room in a posh hotel, and the Makery were teaching us how to make homemade hearts as Christmas tree decorations from ribbons and small bits of fabrics, and buttons and things. I made 2 hearts when I was with Shloer, and now I’m tempted to upcycle old clothing into gifts. Who wouldn’t want a homemade tree decoration made with love by a friend or relative? If only I had a sewing machine, I’d be dangerous!
Since I was very small I have always liked classic cars, a thing that seems to have been passed along to me by my Father despite not really knowing him. When I was a toddler he got in to the local paper by making a stretched Jag car, it was beautiful, I was tiny but I remember this car. Outside it still looked like the normal Jaguar mark 10, but with 6 not 4 doors, inside its was pimped a bit. There was a mixture of faux fur in a black and white Dalmatian style, and crushed red velvet. I’d do anything to own that car, sadly I think he sold it in the years I did not know him. I’ve searched, well more like scoured the internet, but I can not find a photo. The photo is missing from my photo/memory box and I spent over an hour searching […]
Well what can I say, today didn’t start off great. I struggled to sleep again last night, and I’ve never been much of a morning person anyway, but this morning I didn’t see or hear my alarms. I have various alarm clocks, all set at slightly different times. First thing I see or hear today, not the alarms, but Blokey in a bad mood demanding I wake up now. He’s one of those people that wake up and *boom* he’s wide awake. I am not like that. I go through stages almost, starting off barely awake, slow and confused, I gradually realise I’m awake, and try to fight sleep, then eventually after about 30 to 40 minutes of being dazed I wake properly and stumble to the loo and brush my teeth. From then I’m ok, awake even if I’m feeling exhausted from good or bad dreams the night before. […]
