Back in summer, just before the trip to Italy we tried out Chicago town take style pizza. Unsurprisingly looking a holiday to Italy, flights, dog and pet sitters, travel to the airport and time off for school meant I got distracted and forgot! As it goes I was eating Chicago town pizza whilst packing for the Italy trip.
Hello readers. Do you remember a little while back I wrote about Gloucester food bank? Well the lovely manager has emailed me to say that there will be big collections at the bigger Tesco stores in Gloucester and I want to share this info with you all. In fact since reading the email I have seen an advert on the telly saying that Tesco will add an extra 30% to whatever is donated in their stores this weekend 3rd 4th and 5th July, if its on the “shopping list”. If you are shopping please consider buying a couple of cartons of long life milk or a few nice tins, or an extra bottle of shower gel. Even one donation helps, it all adds up. Ok a tin of peas isn’t a meal but it does get packed in to meal kits and passed on to a person or family in […]
As you might have gathered, I am annoyed by the recent bad press related to the Trussell Trust and food banks after The Daily Fail wrote that article. So annoyed I visited my local food bank and not only donated some items, but spent some time talking to the staff at Gloucester food bank. The Fail is way off, these people are lovely, and kind, and well, brilliant. The first thing I want to say is that Gloucester food bank gets no government level help – it is a charity that relies on kind donations and volunteered time. It is a smallish building, but well used. Shelves were stacked with items that families in need would love. It was organised by type of product, and dates. Bulkier items had whole shelves to themselves, and smaller bits were in labelled cardboard boxes used like draws. I met lovely volunteers who I saw […]
Britmums asked it’s parents bloggers to come up with a no fuss, quick meal using Richmond Meatballs. I love little challenges, but what really got my attention was the chance to win a Center Parcs holiday. I would love to go there, so here goes! My youngest is a fussy eater and one of the few things he will eat is meatballs. He loves the cheap tinned ones, but the phrase “recovered meat” makes me very uncomfortable cooking those for him. But when all he really wants is breakfast cereals, chocolate spread sarnies, or meatballs, what do you do! I do whatever I can to sneak vegetables in to his diet, and it is not always easy.
I need work, whilst I don’t think I can hold a normal job at the moment, the classic 9-5 is not right for me I do need some sort of income, sooo.. Here goes.. Typing away…. I have been out of work since October with depression and mental health. This in no way stops me writing or blogging but definitely impacts on my daily life, in particular speaking to people in person is very hard for me and leaving my house alone. Yesterday my partner also got bad employment news. We thought he was lined up to be made redundant, which wouldn’t have been great news, but there would have been a redundancy payout by the company so that would have actually been OK. What his bosses have done instead, is to demote him, including a pay cut as his job is “no longer needed”, and to keep his notice […]
Well I was tagged by a twitter friend and asked to help out, so here you go Mich @ Mummy from the heart blog. Mich blogs these things so much better than me, so please do go to her blog for a read of her version. As a Mum I hate those starving kids adverts for charities on TV, not because I’m tight, but because it makes me feel helpless and useless I can’t do much to help them, I can’t go there personally and give those children clean water or food or hugs, and I won’t get into a financial debate here, but things are tight at the moment. I am very glad I was born in England, with clean water, and access to food and medicines. My youngest son, although not born early, or by C-section had a very similar problem to the situation mention in Mich’s post […]
