A little while ago I was sent the Triop World kit from Interplay for the children to review. Despite often being found in the toys and games sections of shops, Triops are not toys – they are real life pets. The cool thing is they are prehistoric, almost unchanged since the time of dinosaurs and swamps. I though Dee would be all over this kit, but he said he was too old for it, he’s 13 though. Jen didn’t need to be asked twice if he wanted to hatch some pet triops with me. To start them hatching you need to have a lot of hours of daylight and have the water around 20 degrees Celsius. Also you can’t fill the tank with tap water, it will kill the eggs before they even hatch. They like it old fashioned – rain water or spring water only. Lucky for us we […]
As a child I used to adore watching Danger Mouse on telly. My favourite characters were Penfold and Nero – in case you haven’t got a clue who Nero was he’s Baron Von Greenback’s fluffy white pet caterpillar. Well now it is back on children’s telly, on the BBC. Recently Dee and Jen have been playing with talking teddies from the TV show, we have the Baron, Penfold and Danger Mouse himself. Each of these cute plush toys has 3 phrases and the lads have been using these phrases to annoy their Father. Walking up behind him when he’s cooking and shouting out the phrases. The voices are of the current actors, so it’s not David Jason these days, it is the smooth sounding Alexander Armstrong. Nice!
About a month ago Dee and Jen were sent two games to review but we just forgot to get around to writing a review. Sorry folks! So without further procrastination I bring you our thoughts on Ticket to Ride Europe and Timeline. Ticket to Ride Europe – a board game.
Shortly before we went on our little “road trip” camping we downloaded a few child friendly films on to the tablet devices. This meant that when we got stuck in traffic chaos on the M5 on the way we had a secret weapon, and also for wet days in the tent. British holidays or staycations can be a bit of a downer for the lads if it’s all wet outside. One evening we had an in-tent movie night, watching Turbo, Rio 2 and The Lego Movie whilst drinking hot chocolate in camping mugs and ignoring the damp stuff falling from the sky.
Romantic doesn’t have to be a silly over-priced token gift. To me its the little things that are most romantic. Things like coffee and breakfast in bed, or when Blokey picks up on tiny things I say. As regular blog readers will know, I’ve had a troubled past. For me the sweetest thing ever was when we were talking about 80’s toys as we are the same age. I said how I used to collect Pound Puppies and Pound Purries but I had to leave them when I ran away, and I regretted that. Well I wasn’t dropping hints, I was not asking nor expecting him to find me any PP’s. But he went on ebay when I was asleep and bought a Pound Puppy mummy dog. The ones with the velcro tummy with babies inside. I was so surprised, a simple comment in a conversation, I had forgotten it […]
