This weekend I attended BritMums Live! at the Brewery in London. On Friday morning I took my boys to school then I went to the train station. D was going on a school trip to Cornwall, Jen was going to stay at his Nan’s this weekend and the blokey was already in Calgary, Canada working. I had been a single mother all week and almost coped, if you ignore the day Jen was an hour late to school, and that I was exhausted as I hate sleeping without my blokey, he makes me feel safe. I need him. Anyhow, the journey. I had managed to get on to the right bus, then the correct train from the correct platform. Sat my bum down, happy. I looked to twitter to waste some journey time. One of the first things I read? “Once in a lifetime flooding, Calgary is declared a national emergency Zone. People […]
Yesterday I went to #Cybher. A conference for women bloggers. I stayed over night at my Mum’s near Heathrow and got the train and tube in to central London. This was a big thing for me, I don’t go out alone often. On the way I was really excited, and a bit nervous, thinking I’d get lost and would the other bloggers like me? As it goes I got there nearly on time, and there were still some free handbags left! All the purple patterned ones had gone, there was fluorescent yellow or orange left. So I decided I would choose the yellow as it’s like cycling high visibility clothing. More me than neon orange! I felt lost then, I couldn’t see anyone I knew. I was getting very stressed and considered walking out, was not sure where to go or what I was meant to do. Just stood there. […]
So far this week Merlin passes have saved us a small fortune.
Did you know Special K is 30 years old? Well it is. The lovely folks at BritMums sent me a box of new recipe Special K to try out. It’s better than I remembered, to be honest I used to hate the stuff, but I was happy to munch it this morning. So much so I might even buy it on the next big shop. This is my entry for the BritMums and Special K How I’ve changed Linky challenge. Priorities.. Cuppa, munch and Hair straighteners. THEN.. Thirty years is a long time, I was a toddler so my memory isn’t perfect. I would have been in cloth nappies still (probably), and would have been a right handful on stairs and pavements as I was an inquisitive type. But the music was brilliant in the Eighties, and I loved leg warmers and jump rope. I wanted a chopper bike, but […]
Well I’ve today seen a challenging competition on Jade & Tara’s blog that I had to have a go at entering. I’ve not had the best relationship with my Mother, but I am trying to be her friend again, and I’m sure she’d be chuffed if I won Next clothing for her. The challenge is to make a complete outfit just from products for sale at Next. Here is what I’d suggest for my Mum on Mothers day. Images from Next website I would pick a nice lace dress for my Mum, she suits maxi dresses best I think. Also this one goes into larger sizes and like me, my Mum isn’t tiny. It is black and creamy beige, She often wears either shockingly bright prints or plain neutral colours. I’m not going to pick out a print that makes me dizzy, that’s all I’m saying… Moving […]
In the last few years Fox attacks are seemingly on the rise. Or at least the number of times the media get hold of these stories is on the rise. The recent BBC news story It seems that foxes are attacking unguarded babies and occasionally sleeping adults. There is a pattern to it from the stories I have read. It’s always in cities, the urban fox rather than the free range variety. It’s often a baby, and it doesn’t bite just anywhere… It goes for limbs. Hands, arms, feet. Not trying to be gross but its like it knows limbs are easier to remove and is that starving that its worth the risks of entering a house for “food”. With the adult attacks it’s similar – biting adults in their sleep. I’ve read about feet, fingers and ears being chewed at. You don’t tend to hear of attacks on say, the […]
I was looking through old photos last night and found some photos I wanted to share. These are taken on the ONLY time my Dad has met my sons. I nearly cried looking at them…….. These were taken on Halloween 2009. Its now 2 years since then, and he hasn’t come to see us. I can’t contact him as he doesn’t tell me his address, email or phone number. I love being the unwanted unplanned child, really, I do. I’ve only seen this brother and sister once except the meeting photo’d here which hurts aswell to be honest. This meeting only came about as I found an old phone number and phoned him, D had been asking lots of awkward questions “Who is your Dad?” “If he’s my grandad why has he never met me?” “is he embarrassed by me Mum?” and so on. I gave my Dad an ultimatum […]
I know its been a long time…. but I’ve been watching 10 year anniversary documentries. I still find it deeply emotional and cried about 3 hours tonight. Ok, I’m not personally contectted to this, and I don’t know anyone who died but I feel for those that are connected. Everyone remembers where they were that day. I was in central London, big buildings all around. News and internet was panicy, said London was next. I was terrified, I won’t lie. I felt disgusted and shocked and angry and confussed and and and….. Where were you on September 11th 2001 ???
My other half is on the motorway driving back now. He’s been away since Sunday. It’s been a stressful 2 days, my boys have been arguing and fighting each other, last night Jen was ill so he was awake until about 2.30am which was fun, then this morning my dishwasher failed mid program. Now I have loads of half washed stuff and a dishwasher full of dirty water. No idea how I can empty it out now, even in stand by it makes a strange growly noise. Can’t even make it start another program, just will not go. Does anyone know anything about dishwashers? I could vlog (video blog) the problem and noise? Really can’t afford a new one after spending so much getting passports, suitcases, swimming shorts for the kids, train to from London, a hotel for Friday night etc. Why do things break when you can’t afford to repair/replace […]
