As I might have previously mentioned, I am skydiving in memory of Matilda with 8 other Mummies very soon. Matilda Mae was nine months old, I thought “cot death” only takes tiny newborns. Sadly that’s not true. If you are a new parent please please visit the LullabyTrust website and check out the advice bits. Information like this can save little lives. In an attempt to push up my online donations, and to help the Lullaby Trust as much as possible, I am going to raffle off items of my own. These are things I have bought, and items that I as a blogger, have been given for attending conferences or writing certain posts. Anything I can to increase the #MMskydive total with #TeamMatildaMae as currently my page has the least donations. I’m not giving up though! I will be keeping my eyes peeled in shops for nice little prizes […]
This weekend I attended BritMums Live! at the Brewery in London. On Friday morning I took my boys to school then I went to the train station. D was going on a school trip to Cornwall, Jen was going to stay at his Nan’s this weekend and the blokey was already in Calgary, Canada working. I had been a single mother all week and almost coped, if you ignore the day Jen was an hour late to school, and that I was exhausted as I hate sleeping without my blokey, he makes me feel safe. I need him. Anyhow, the journey. I had managed to get on to the right bus, then the correct train from the correct platform. Sat my bum down, happy. I looked to twitter to waste some journey time. One of the first things I read? “Once in a lifetime flooding, Calgary is declared a national emergency Zone. People […]
This afternoon my Vistaprint order came so I’m pleased to be a “brand” now. Also this evening I must dye my hair and do my nails.
Sneak peek of my hair… In this photo was still wet, and it looked brighter. I used a highlight cap and hook, not a quick job alone. I put in some streaks using the cap, but avoiding the fringe area, so I can dye that purple later this week. Then I still had some pink left. Shame to waste it, so I tipped the ends as well. Gawd knows what my therapist is going to say in the morning. It’s pink and purple as those are Matilda’s colours. Bathroom was a bit of a state though!
The last few days Team Matilda Mae have been busy talking about ideas for fundraising and I realised I’ve not really explained why I want to do this. Why am I willing to jump from a plane for a family I’ve never met? Why should I even care? Well here goes, I care simply because I am a Mum too. I saw the tweets from Jennie about Matilda Mae and all my sympathy, and thoughts were with her, I wanted to fix this. Hoped so hard it was a mistake, that She might wake up. I cried reading my screen, Jennie was not just words on a screen, she was a real lady, sharing her real emotions, and I needed to fix it, to help, to listen. But I can’t fix it, there is nothing anyone can do to bring Matilda back, but by doing something mad for The Lullaby Trust charity […]
There is an internet auction going on in memory of Matilda Mae, and to raise funds for the Lullaby Trust. I blogged about this just before the first auctions went live, but those auctions have ended now. At the moment there are 50+ items on auction so there is something for everyone. Check the items on offer, or share using Twitter tag #MMMA eBay listings for #MMMA
Righty, I am thinking of ways to help with the skydive sponsorship for the Team Matilda Mae jump and I have a cunning plan. I offered advertising space on MRB to small companies in return for donations to my just giving page, but I have not yet had any takers. (If you are a blogger, or a business and this sounds tempting there is a link explaining it all on my left sidebar along with the Skydive badge) I’ve had an idea… What I am thinking is I try to source a few prizes to giveaway on MRB and I do an online raffle. So companies could donate a prize and I would link to the company’s website from my blog, MRB readers could enter to win prizes by making a donation on my just giving page, or by TextGiving by texting “JSKY99 £1″ to 70070. (The minimum donations that are set by […]

Hello!I’ve had an idea to get fundraising for the #MMskydive. As the cute badge on my side bars tells you, I’m jumping from a plane in July for charity. I am doing this for the family of Matilda Mae, as their story really touched me. I’m actually scared of heights, confined spaces, strangers, wide open areas and lots of other phobias, so this was a pretty big thing for me to join in with. I will be high up, in a tiny plane, strapped to an instructor I do not know and surrounded by fellow bloggers, none of whom I’ve ever met in real life so are strangers still, and the place the instructor aims for will be a massive open space! It ticks lots of phobia boxes, but I’m determined I’m going to do this and I’m convincing myself it is good to force yourself to do crazy things […]
Or text “JSKY99 £1” to 70070. (You can change the donation amount, just choose £1, £2, £3, £4, £5, or £10) See the Team Matilda Mae skydive page on just giving, there is a few of us doing this!! Thank you so much! One word EEKKKK!
From today, Wednesday the 10th of April, FSID are changing their name to The Lullaby Trust. Bright new future, in support of Edspire! This is a much more gentle sounding name and might help families feel more able to access the information and services that they provide. This was top secret until now, so look suprised? 😉 I’m sharing this music video to help spread the word about the new name change. I think it’s a beautiful song, and is also very relevant as I was encouraged to write this by Jennie Edspire whose angel Matilda Mae passed away. Her name meant “star of the sea” so Star Sailor’s Lullaby was the obvious choice for me to use, after a bit of careful thought. About FSID.org.uk / The Lullaby Trust.Online you’ll find lots of advice about trying to prevent cot death, but if you aren’t sure I’d check what your local […]
Just look at Twitter tonight. Check out #MatildaMae and see the massive love and respect when one of “our own” suffers a loss. Here is an extremely moving tribute video by Jennie This is so sad, her cute cheeky little smile. Such a sweet girl, you will cry. Everywhere I look I’m seeing this avatar, people that know Jennie’s story and people that are just learning of it tonight. The reason we are all doing this? To support a family in a very sad time in their life. Tomorrow Jennie, her husband David and their twins lay MM to rest. It’s her funeral, a life suddenly taken, without warning. It’s heart-breaking, and unfair to be honest. It touched so many parents, with many of us hugging their mini-me’s more often since reading the tragic news. So many of us, all desperate to help them, wanting to change things for this […]
