Do you Love the Sales? 2

Recently Love The Sales got in touch, and I had a gander around their website. Impressed! Being a tall girl I struggle with finding things that fit, normally if online clothing shops do have a tall range it’s only a few items, and it takes AGES to hunt for something I like. It’s a website that pools together discounted products from other websites, so you can find brands you like at better prices. What’s not to like? The best thing I did on Love the Sales was search the word “tall” in the box in the top corner – Pandora’s box was opened, it was now only showing me lanky lass clothes. Then on the left sidebar I selected my clothing size, like magic I’m only seeing things in the tall ranges of several stores, just in the 2 sizes I usually buy from and if you then sort it […]

Do you have an emergency fund?

Today I am handing my blog over to a friend, a wise, thrifty, money saver of a blogger. The following is all written by Emma. Hi, I’m Emma and I blog over at From Aldi To Harrods, all about saving money and ways to make some extra money. I am a strong believer in having an emergency fund and it has certainly helped us out of a few financial pickles. Having an emergency fund is really important so that if you were faced with sickness, job loss, a large repair bill or any other unplanned financial emergency, you have the money set aside so that you can maintain your normal lifestyle. Here are some of my tips to help you kickstart your emergency fund. How much to save In an ideal world, we would have at least 6 months of our salary set aside as an emergency fund. I don’t know […]

It’s big energy saving week 3

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’ll know I like to be eco where I can. We can all do little things, like use the half flush button on the toilet, and turning things like TVs and laptops off rather than putting them in to standby. Standby mode is so wasteful, a quick bit of number bashing on a calculator suggests it about £5/10 a year for a TV left in standby. I bet you don’t think much about lighting your house though. We do not any have any old fashioned ones left in our home, we have a mix of energy saver bulbs and LED’s. Even in the attic we’ve got energy bulbs, I bet that you attic or your garage/shed is where you’ll find your worse performing bulbs still being used. I know some people will say they “already have bulbs so why buy new before […]

Money saving for your car 2

Good afternoon readers, today I am posting in partnership with Debt Free Direct and the making money go further blog. They were kind enough to spend me a “car money saving kit”, a black and decker car vacuum, jump leads, spare light bulbs and an electronic tyre inflator. Jump leads are boring to be honest, and I hope I never need these but they are likely to come in extremely handy when camping. For some reason we always seem to get approached by camping “neighbours” asking for jump leads and help. Maybe we look all sensible or something? The bulbs are a cheap way to save a few quid – if you are driving with a blown bulb you could get a nasty fine and it would also fail on the MOT test. In fact the only point Custard had on the MOT was a wrong bulb. One tiny bulb cost […]

When penny saving is bad – contraceptive tablets 60

Dear doctors/NHS/PCT or whoever thanks for swapping my tablets. Thanks very much for not explaining why. Thanks even more for not even mentioning it and causing me to panic thinking it must be a mistake, maybe my dyslexic handwriting was to blame on the repeat prescription request? What on earth is this medicine written on my repeat prescription? It’s certainly not an actual repeat! Male readers be warned, period talk! I take contraception as bleeding control. I bleed at random times and for prolonged *periods* of time. My periods are two weeks to about three months apart, I can’t guess when, I can’t plan things – I never know when it’s going to be a bad time. This would be unpleasant for any woman I’m sure. But for me, with an extreme phobia due to nearly dying of erm, female bleeding issues, it’s pretty hellish. I’ve been on Cerazette for 4 years. […]
