Patients and patience 3

Last week my son Dee went skiing in Austria. He was fine when he was away, but since he’s been home he has been getting gradually more unwell. It started as a cough at the weekend. As most modern parents would, I popped on to Facebook and asked parents of the other boys he went on the trip with if their sons were ill. – it’s just Dee. On Sunday he felt a bit rubbish, but was alright. On Monday I forced him to stay off school, whilst he complained he’d be in trouble with his teachers, he reluctantly stayed home. He was mainly sleeping on the sofa. On Tuesday he was worse, high temperature (for him), snotty nose, mega vicious cough, dizziness and lethargic. He insisted on going to school, by lunchtime he’d almost collapsed and was sent home. I was out helping a local support group painting their […]

Toiletries Rant 6

What is it with (some) men and toiletries? I currently have no shampoo as apparently it’s the same thing as shower gel. No, no it is not. One is designed to clean hair, one to clean skin. Skin is alive, hair is dead from the moment it leaves your scalp. It’s not the flipping same, it.is.not. And yes, it annoyed me! I would have had qualifications in this if I wasn’t skint as a late teen. I did hairdressing, don’t tell me something I *know* isn’t true. It properly winds me up…. So I saved this until Friday just to join in with Mummy Barrow’s ranty Friday, then I don’t seem like a serial complainer. Please, people, donate shampoo to me. I’ve got loads of shower gel, and zero shampoo. I’d love to fill the bath full of shampoo in a dirty clean protest. I am not washing my hair […]

Benefits Vs Privilege

The lovely Eliza had a bit of a rant at the weekend, she calls this “Sunday Soapbox” and if you haven’t read it, I really think you should. http://www.mommatwo.com/2013/07/sunday-soapbox-privilege.html Sunday Soapbox. Privilege. Few things anger me more than the privileged few telling the rest of us what we’re doing wrong. Those who are born into money, a comfortable lifestyle, who have easy access to everything that makes life more enjoyable, to a good education, to support and success, and to employment and more of the same in adulthood, do not understand poverty. They do not understand poverty. They do not understand the difficulties that people in their own towns and cities are living with, right now. They do not understand that being poor is not a choice that people make because they are lazy. They do not understand that for some further education is not an option. They do not understand that […]

Have You Ever Been Annoying? 3

The following is stolen quoted from Jax’s post Liveotherwise – Have you ever been annoying? Well be careful then, you might be about to become a criminal. Sadly, I’m not exaggerating. You see, in a drive to simplify our somewhat overburdened legislation, the government is currently considering a new Bill, the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Bill which could make being annoying a criminal act. They are looking at replacing ASBOs with IPNAs – Injunctions to Prevent Nuisance and Annoyance. Now, preventing nuisance and annoyance probably sounds like a great idea. But, think about this properly. This can be applied to a child from aged 10 or up. Do you know any child from age 10 or up that is never a nuisance or annoyance? Perhaps you’re still not worried because after all, there will be a carefully described and thought through series of checks and balances, right. Um. (1) […]

Other Parents Children At The Park 7

Today was pretty much the last straw. A child I’ll called Jamie (because it’s the only unisex name I can think of right now) follows my sons and I everywhere. It’s not just following, Jamie bosses us around, *do this, I want to do that, put my on the ride*. Sounds ok, now imagine you’ve waited ten minutes for both swings to be empty because your youngest wants to “race mummy on the swings” and the second we sit down Jamie appears “my turn.” trying my very best to stay calm I say “My son and me are playing, please wait” so Jamie just asks again and again and a-flipping-gain! I have to walk away, we go to a different toy, a climbing wall. Guess what, yup! Jamie tries to push in and tells me “lift me up” so I suggest to my lad we do the zip wire, yes, […]

D had a Meltdown 6

For a long time I’ve been saying D is special and I suspect Aspergers or something related to it? I’m no doctor though. But there is definitely something odd, something un-average. He’s charming, super smart and obsessed by maths and Lego but at times he just flips and is like a disruptive hurricane of rage and hate that you can not even communicate with. Today for the first time in months, I think the first time this year actually, I went round someones house for tea. It should have been lunch but I was running late. It was nice for a while. Me and friend were chatting grown up things whilst drinking tea and all our kids were playing nicely on a Kinect doing bowling together, for a short time anyway it was nice! Then D suddenly flipped like he does at home, in front of another grown up. Whilst […]

The Daxon £200 Outfit Challenge 2

I love these blogger challenges, Daxon has asked members of its blogger network (see my badge on the toolbar?) to try to make a nice outfit for under £200. Mine comes in at £197 or £199.95 including delivery not bad going I thought. The best bit, one of the Daxon bloggers who have a go at this challenge will win the outfit they have chosen. I never get to spend money on clothes so I’m up for it… First thing I decided was that I wanted it to be a Spring look. The British weather didn’t get the Memo that went round that Winter should be over! Hint Hint. Anyways…. I’ve done for a grey-ish and pale brown theme here, and I would wear this lot together. I started with Capri jeans, I liked the quirky finishing at the bottoms. Also they are in a tall range, so they won’t […]

Why I hate Valentines day 10

So much fake lovey dovey stuff is forced in our faces from mid January to make you buy over priced and largely tatt tokens of affection. I don’t want chocolates in a heart shaped box, or a cheaply made teddy bear just because it’s hugging a heart cushion. It’s everywhere, and this year I am NOT playing this Valentine’s game! This is going to be a rant, a personal one. If you know my in real life kindly stop reading. One year ago, on Valentine’s day night, at midnight so he’d think I’d forgotten any kind of gift or love token, totally unexpected to him (I think) I got down on one knee and asked him to be my husband. He said yes, I was so happy. Then he refused to put the ring on saying he didn’t like jewelry, didn’t want it mentioned anywhere people might hear it or […]

Today was the Christmas rugby match

We all went to Gloucester Rugby today. I was wearing my Gloucester rugby shirt with my name on, with a bah humbug hat. Blending in! Todays match was a total sell out. Crammed full, a bit squashed actually. If wasn’t with partner I’d have freaked out, I had a rant to him about the woman behind us. Kept touching me accidentally, please don’t touch me. :-/ He told me to chill out, and held my hand. It started off ok and Jen was sharing packets of sweets with the stewards. Then a regular Gloucester fan who isn’t that young was dressed up as Santa was walking about with a bucket of sweets, he’s in the middle photo but it blurred. My lads chased after Santa and took a single sweet each, not a handful like some cheeky kids. What I thought was fun was Gloucester were running a fun thing. […]

Please, bag it and bin it

#CleanUpAfterDogs Today I’ve been having a bit of a rant about dogs poo. I’m fed up of other peoples pet poo in my garden, and on the path next to my house. It’s taking the pee! There is currently THREE lots of dogs mess and one lot of cats mess in my front garden. Then a huge heap on the path that links my front door to the back of the house, where the road is. I’m not being quiet anymore – please dog owners, get it picked up. “Keep Britain Tidy” have free posters and stickers about various campaigns, and I’ve requested the posters and bin stickers that mention the “Poo Fairy”. The posters will go on my downstairs windows and I’m going to staple one to my fence in a poly-pocket so the dog owning neighbours go past it. The stickers are going on local bins, but also […]

Kaboom – The Breakdown Post 8

Well, what can I say? I think kaboom is a great word for what’s going on. Last weekend I had a mental breakdown, it had been building for some time to be fair. I’ve been saying “I’m fine” way too much, as I just don’t know how to express how bad I feel. Kaboom… This resulted in me wanting to throw myself from the upstairs window on Saturday night, luckily I suppose, I have phobias, including a fear of heights. This meant I just was shaking uncontrollably instead, crying so much I felt like I was drowning from snot, and all around my eyes hurt like I had been punched in the face. I got up, went to work, struggling lots. Sunday night, same thing, so depressed it hurt. My partner had told me to stop snivelling and attention seeking. I wasn’t attention seeking, I was breaking from the inside. […]

So my hubby has gone a few hours ago…

Already i feel as though i might go crazy. He’s gone to Canada for work again. He left Gloucs at 11am and took off from Heathrow at half past 5. I feel so alone already…. Some people shouldn’t be parents and i suspect I am one of those. I have honestly already been crying, kids are really different when he’s not here. We don’t live in a show home, far from it, but call me a snob, i don’t find it as funny as my boys do to throw food across the room, stamp, rant and even tip a cup with hot chocolate in it onto a beige carpet whilst stareing at me…. Then threw it at the door! This was the 4year old. The 9year old miniature teen has been grunting, ranting, complaining and letting me know what a rubbish parent i am. I need help! I wrote on […]
