Jacamo clothing review by Blokey

The following review is in Blokey’s own words, and is all his own opinions. Jacamo specialises in clothes for the larger gentleman, be that larger as in tall, or larger as in “well built”. I fall into the latter category being a 5ft 10 inch, 100KG round person. I’ve been shopping at Jacamo for many years even when I weighed as much as 150KG and was obviously a lot bigger than I am now. Jacamo* is primarily an online purchase shopping experience. They have recently started to open stores (in the Midlands and in London) but none of these are local to me in the south west so I have to rely on their distant shopping experience. This means everything is purchased via their easy to use website, and delivered by a local courier company. The website is very simple to navigate, with the clothing line split into categories and each […]

Sunshine, dogs and glasses

Eagle eyed followers of my social media channels may have noticed a little change recently – glasses. That’s right, spectacles, face furniture, four eyes and so on. I bought my first pair from Boots Opticians in the city centre. I got them half price using a voucher on the eye test reminder letter, helpful that. You can see these here. I still paid a fair chunk of money for them, and extra for the purple tint on the lenses. The pair that came in the post today were from Firmoo.com and I am very impressed with them at the prices they sell for. I saw this is an excuse for some photographs…..

Danger Mouse is back – Crikey!

As a child I used to adore watching Danger Mouse on telly. My favourite characters were Penfold and Nero – in case you haven’t got a clue who Nero was he’s Baron Von Greenback’s fluffy white pet caterpillar. Well now it is back on children’s telly, on the BBC. Recently Dee and Jen have been playing with talking teddies from the TV show, we have the Baron, Penfold and Danger Mouse himself. Each of these cute plush toys has 3 phrases and the lads have been using these phrases to annoy their Father. Walking up behind him when he’s cooking and shouting out the phrases. The voices are of the current actors, so it’s not David Jason these days, it is the smooth sounding Alexander Armstrong. Nice!

Zoflora versus dogs 2

As much as I love my dogs I hate what they do to our home. Last night Doris wanted outside at 3am, I let her out but she didn’t go. So a few minutes later she was crying again, so I stumbled back down stairs and let her in the garden, again she did nothing. So I wasn’t surprised this morning by “accidents” on the carpet by the back door. That’s where Zoflora comes in.

Tasty soup from New Convent Garden Soup Co. 1

Recently I was contacted by New Covent Garden Soup Co. which I was pleased about as Blokey really likes their soup. He often buys the single portion size and freezes it for evenings when he goes to the gym and misses mealtime with the boys and I. They have several varieties of soup so it doesn’t get boring and even a soup of the month, which in February was Thai broccoli and ginger. It’s a strange sounding mixture, but it tasted good. It’s still in our local Sainsbury store, so be quick. The upcoming flavour for March is Allotment Vegetable, I’m am intrigued by this name as you can grow almost anything on an allotment. New Convent Garden Soup co. said “Romance is sure to be in the air this month with our latest tantalising marriage of flavours. This delicious recipe combines tasty broccoli with a splash of zesty lime, […]

A weekend with HolidayCottages.co.uk in Devon 1

In October I was the guest of HolidayCottages.co.uk at Lympscott Barn in Devon along with several other bloggers. It’s a gorgeous converted barn building on a real working farm, in the middle of nowhere. One of the first things I noticed was a family of Buzzards, how I wish I could have captured a photograph of them. To me that’s a sign of proper countryside, the wildlife. This area certainly wasn’t short of animals, flowers and character. This was a truly massive cottage, sleeping 14 comfortably. The living room, dining room and kitchen were all merged in a huge downstairs room just to the left of the entrance hall. To the right was the downstairs bedroom where Annie and Tanya stayed and this room was more disability friendly was its bathroom is really a wet room and it has a private patio. What I liked most was it had a […]

PetFace for dogs

During the Easter holidays my hounds had a few new treats and toys. Lots of toys and treats from Pet Face. I hadn’t heard of this company before but I must say I like the products.  The rubbery “crystal” toy is a favourite with Freya. It has a strong bung you shove in the bottom of the crystal, that smells a bit like marmite.  She’s been trying super hard to get it but only manages to nibble away tiny pieces so far. Whilst the rubber toy is fine this bung is a bit worse for wear, but PetFace were kind enough to even send refills for it.

My new favourite Dress 2

A little while ago House of Fraser asked me to pick a new dress. For me that is a challenge, I’m not great at buying clothes for myself. However I had a rummage through the massive selection online – it took me about two hours, really. I am so indecisive. In the end I sent a short list and was sent a surprise from my choices. It was an adorable skater dress with huge sleeves. It is strange, its the type of thing I used to hate, it reminds me of the curtains in my late Grandparents garage but now I kind of like oranges and browns. This is a great mixture of subtle (almost boring) colours swirled into a fantastic print, but the shape is the killer. The skirt from the waist is a full circle. If I spin on the spot it will be out flat like Upsy […]

A treat for Blokey’s feet 1

My Blokey is a large chap, built like a rugby forward player, which means buying clothes has always been a bit of an issue for him. He struggles on the high street, so much so he only buys online now. One of the websites he uses for his clothing, especially his jeans and work suits, is Jacamo. So when Jacamo offered Blokey some manly footwear as a gift he wasn’t going to say no. He chose two pairs of high-tops. One pair are navy blue canvas with white rubber soles, and flat white laces. The other pair are also navy blue but more appropriate for the season we are really in. Sorry Blokey, it’s not summer anymore.
