I don’t do an many outfit posts as I’d like. So here is a snapshot of what I wore on walkies with Freya and my son D who was behind the camera so you won’t see him. Freya is indeed wearing a Santa hat.
My Blokey is a large chap, built like a rugby forward player, which means buying clothes has always been a bit of an issue for him. He struggles on the high street, so much so he only buys online now. One of the websites he uses for his clothing, especially his jeans and work suits, is Jacamo. So when Jacamo offered Blokey some manly footwear as a gift he wasn’t going to say no. He chose two pairs of high-tops. One pair are navy blue canvas with white rubber soles, and flat white laces. The other pair are also navy blue but more appropriate for the season we are really in. Sorry Blokey, it’s not summer anymore.
Those words “Back to school” fill me with dread. Whilst I definitely think the holidays need to end, as D desperately misses his strict school’s routine, I hate all the shopping! It’s not just the shopping though, it’s the washing, ironing, name labels and cupboard clearouts of old stuff.
As you might know I am a tall lass. As a result of this I have tall feet. Long wide feet. According to the high street shop shelves I am a bit of a freak at size 10. I can only normally get shoes from t’interweb. Sounds great? Loads of choice? Cheaper online? Wrong! Sadly it means I can’t try them on first – and sometimes I find shoesies like these.
I hate throwing out things I think I can fix. Sadly Freya Woof has a shoe chewing habit, particularly my Crocs. I wear Crocs because I can import big girl sizes from the USA or Canada. I’m UK size 10 to 11, which is normally an American W12. For some reason they don’t sell them in the UK and its so hard for me to get shoes I like. I was mortified this week when Freya chewed up my newest pair I had worn exactly twice. No way, I couldn’t bin these. So I made new straps…. Knitted straps.
I am pretty sure people that know me well know I love the Manic Street Preachers. Last night was my Christmas present. Blokey gave me a xmas card with a note saying “this is a promise of a hotel booking, manics gig tickets for two and a babysitter”. We don’t get much alone time without the boys. A very thoughtful gift I thought although it was a long wait.
Today, as I bet every parent knows, is World Book Day. It is a day I often dread, and I know I’m not the only parent that struggles with WBD dress up outfits. But this year its all good, Jokers masquerade online costume shop have sent us a Batman outfit for Jen. Oddly though his school aren’t dressing up today, they are doing it tomorrow instead. Confusion followed as a few kids were in fancy dress, I felt so bad for the lad in a fluffy lion suit this morning. A photo of Jen will be added here tomorrow. The Batman outfit is made by Rubies fancy dress, which is a brand I have heard of before. It is in 3 main pieces, the all-in-one body suit, a mask with the cape attached to it, and a rubbery belt. The suit is like a big onesie, which opens at the […]
Recently I tried out Footner. Its a product I had never heard of that is meant to remove hard skin from your feet. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and it is a weird looking item for sure. They are a sort of plastic trainer-sock shape, with a lining soaked in a strong smelling liquid/gel. The smell isn’t bad but it is a bit chemically.
Happy Friday compers and bloggers, Each Friday I post this for you to share lovely blog competitions you have found. Linky it up 😉 I don’t really have rules for this but this is for competitions which UK residents can enter please, and I would very much appreciate if you filled in the title (name) box like this: “25/3 win your favourite shoes – blogtitle” rather than “my friends awesomely named blog”. End dates are great because if it’s got a long date it might be worth adding to next weekends as well and it’s also good to know what the prize is before trying to win it. I will try to add a few competitions to the linky myself each week before it goes live. The linky opens each Friday, and runs all week. #WinningWeekends means that bloggers can quickly link up their posts, and maybe grab a badge […]
Yesterday the kids were bored and moaning they didn’t want to go out. They’d gone a bit stir crazy in fact and all the overly aggressive “playing” was worrying me. It was one of them days. After another time-out moment Blokey and I told them to get coats, shoes and the woofs lead. We hadn’t had lunch yet, and Blokey and I just needed to get them out of the house. We popped to a certain popular drive through to grab lunch without leaving the woof.

As you might have heard on the news Englandshire is a bit damp and squishy. Rather than letting that stop our fun we used it to our advantage and I took Jen and Freya out puddle jumping. Jen didn’t want to go out, Freya was desperate for a wee but was refusing to go in the garden. Awkward! My solution “Jen I’ll let you get soaking and muddy if you let her exercise?” deal. He scampers off to find shoes, we both decided on wearing summery Crocs. It’s more sensible than it sounds… Crocs aren’t going to be damaged when submerged in puddles, and no socks to keep the cold muddy water on your skin. Yup we can totally blag wearing summer shoes in flooded fields and call it sensible. Shhhh stop disagreeing. 😉
