Why Use A Dog Crate? 1

My Freya is settling in but does have a bad chewing habit. Plastic objects in particular, such as wheels from KNEX Jen forgot to put away, the dosing lids off of laundry soap liquid, and kids drinking tumblers. She’s a little monkey really. Whilst it’s very cute, it’s not great as it means I always have to watch her and can’t leave her home alone. I was advised by the Dogs trust she needs “indoor kennel training” which basically means allowing her to use a doggy cage in the house so it becomes normal, just another bit of furniture. I disliked the idea of cages, or crates as they’re called now, but it makes sense with a dog like Freya. She likes to nest and bury herself in blankets or the kids coats or anything she can grab that’s fabric and she could nest in a crate. Her issue is […]

Beverly Hills Formula Toothpaste Review 3

I have been asked to review Beverly Hills Formula Perfect White toothpaste in standard and sensitive. I was pleased to get an email offering me samples of this as I’m a coffee addict and have sensitive teeth. I’m the perfect guinea pig for this actually. Then it dawned on me – how on earth do I photograph me brushing my own teeth? Why would anyone want to see my teeth? Here is an unflattering action shot of my teeth. The sensitive version is white opaque with blue dots, and the standard is translucent pale blue with blue dots. They both taste ok. Often specialist toothpastes that claim to do more than one thing taste awful in my opinion. What can I say, I’m fussy. But Beverly Hills Formula passes my taste test. I have only been using this a few days, and its only flipping working! Having tried many “sensitive […]

Retail Royalty Challenge – Helping Charity for Free 4

When I read that MoneySuperMarket wanted to give bloggers £30 to spend on a local charity, I jumped at the chance. The idea is us bloggers get a budget of £30 (given to us by MoneySuperMarket for this challenge) but we have to try to buy more than £30’s worth of gifts or items that your local charity would like. Maximum benefit of the cash if you like! They’ve called this the #RetailRoyaltyChallenge and the winner gets a massive Harrods hamper, which I wouldn’t mind but to help a charity for free, I already feel like a winner. I decided that I wanted to help Cheltenham Animal Shelter (I’m abbreviating to CAS), you might have noticed I do love my pets, all six of them! I had a look around the Cheltenham Animal Shelter website : gawa.org.uk and discovered they had an Amazon Wishlist so had a look through at what I […]

Oat Cookies – Cadbury Dairy Milk Creative Cooking With #CBias

I have recently joined Collective Bias, or #CBias as it gets called on twitter. It is a shoppers programme where a few bloggers are chosen for each project, and then you have to plan and go shopping for a particular product, and photo it like crazy. I felt like a spy in Sainsburys. My Google+ photo album – my (not so) Top Secret mission! This mission was made for me, go and buy Diary Milk chocolate by Cadburys. Well it would be rude not to accept wouldn’t it? The mission was cookery, so I’ve had to bribe my partner in to cooking as I can burn salad me. Truly I am a bad cook, and he is great, so it’s the logical thing in this house that the Daddy cooks. First up Dairy Milk Cookies. Two more Yummy Cadbury baking blog posts follow this post shortly… stay tuned! Fudge Cake […]

A New Money Saving Website – Daily Deal Superstore 2

As you might have heard me mention before, I use discounts and deals sites. Things like cash back sites (see my side bar) and group buying deals sites. Well there is a new kid on the block, and I think it’s going to be HUGE. I would like to introduce you to Daily Deal Superstore. At the moment the site hasn’t got much publicity but I wouldn’t be surprised if you see it advertised on big websites soon, it is such a neat idea. It’s like a comparison site crossed with a deal site. Can you imagine Groupon, SavvyMums, KGB deals, Wowcher and lots of other daily deal sites, all in one site?? How about daily deal sites you have not even heard of yet? If there is a deal to be had, you can find it. Well it is that! I’m in, I think it is a brilliant idea to […]

Do Supermarkets Confuse Consumers With Copy-Cat Labelling? 3

Screen shot from Tesco.com A Which? report has revealed that many consumers are confused and annoyed that supermarkets use labels and packaging that is similar to well-known brands. Well maybe I’m unusual, but I like that they look the same. I’m a mum on a tight budget and when Jen goes on about “Dr Pepper” which is often nearly £2 I can say “yes, ok you an have a treat” and pick up the copy cat Dr Pop one at around 70p. I can see its not the same product, the printed labels aren’t identical so I do not feel its confusing, from my point of view its I can buy something that looks very similar, tastes the same but is less than half the price. Why wouldn’t you like that? I had a quick nosey online at one of the big four supermarkets (Tesco just because I shop there, […]

Introducing Stuffster – A Smart Shopping Tool – Review 3

Yesterday I found out about a site called Stuffster.com from a twitter buddy, I thought to myself “That’s an odd name” and then looked into what the site was about. I headed first to the Twitter Stuffster page, and then had a peek about the main website. Stuffster in a pictorial nutshell.. Its a shopping tool, a bit like a funky hybrid of an auction sites watch list system and a comparison site and an Internet wish-list. You add products, from almost any site to your Stufflists, and set a desired price. So lets say you want something in particular, a certain brand of shoes and you know the style, You pop to your favourite sites as normal (after registering on Stuffster that is, I’ll talk you through that shortly) and look for these shoes in your size then click “+STUFF” button on your browsers links bar et voila, […]

Pimping Out My Online Skills #JuliesCV 9

I need work, whilst I don’t think I can hold a normal job at the moment, the classic 9-5 is not right for me I do need some sort of income, sooo.. Here goes.. Typing away…. I have been out of work since October with depression and mental health. This in no way stops me writing or blogging but definitely impacts on my daily life, in particular speaking to people in person is very hard for me and leaving my house alone. Yesterday my partner also got bad employment news. We thought he was lined up to be made redundant, which wouldn’t have been great news, but there would have been a redundancy payout by the company so that would have actually been OK. What his bosses have done instead, is to demote him, including a pay cut as his job is “no longer needed”, and to keep his notice […]

My first car, maybe? 2

Well today I went out and “tried cars on” thinking would be just window shopping. I’m rather tall, I was more than 6ft tall before my back problem. This means my legs are disproportionately long. Getting on buses hurts as I can normally only fit in the disabled seats… I appear plain old lazy, but I am unable to get my legs in the normal seats. Cars are the same, many are so tight I can’t get in the back whatsoever. As a front seat passenger I’m ok as I move the seat back and put my knees to one side. You can’t do this in the drivers seat as the wheel gets in the way. Plus you kind of need to have control of your feet. Clios, corsas and old fiestas are a no go, despite being sensible mummy cars. I actually want a mini but I’m sure you […]

Cheese Intolerance, ouch I look pregnant

Let me start by saying I am not adding a bump photo. I have intolerance to strong cheeses and I avoid certain brands I know to cause me an issue. It’s not all cheeses, and I know whats ok and not. Today we went into town center as a family. A spot of window shopping for Crimbo gifts, taking kids into shops and judging reactions. Was going ok, ruled out some gifts for the boys and showed me what they might actually choose. Very handy! Then I said let’s go to Subway for lunch. Wish I hadn’t to be honest. I had what I often have, a tikka sub with spicy cheese. There was no signage saying the cheese had changed. It looked slightly different but I thought nothing else of it until half an hour later. Massive stomach pains and I had difficulty sitting back in the car as […]

Have been underwear shopping…. 2

Most of my bras were frumpy or worn out so Hubby bought me new stuff. I chose and he paid, my kind of shopping. My point is not that he’s being nice, but about Primark’s underwear. I am flat chested, since having the kids I’m barely there anymore in the boob department. This is depressing if you haven’t always been flat. They had some bras on the back wall the packaging said “maximise your assets” and they looked ridiculous, but I picked one as the pants are separate so I can choose my size. The sets are useless… Pant sizing shouldn’t follow cup sizing. Please is there any lady out there reading that is a 36B and wears size 12 bottoms? I want 16 at least but that is paired to D cups! These bras I’ll just call “assets” from now on rock! States they increase you 2 cup sizes […]
