Danger Mouse is back – Crikey!

As a child I used to adore watching Danger Mouse on telly. My favourite characters were Penfold and Nero – in case you haven’t got a clue who Nero was he’s Baron Von Greenback’s fluffy white pet caterpillar. Well now it is back on children’s telly, on the BBC. Recently Dee and Jen have been playing with talking teddies from the TV show, we have the Baron, Penfold and Danger Mouse himself. Each of these cute plush toys has 3 phrases and the lads have been using these phrases to annoy their Father. Walking up behind him when he’s cooking and shouting out the phrases. The voices are of the current actors, so it’s not David Jason these days, it is the smooth sounding Alexander Armstrong. Nice!

5 Easter movies worth watching*

This Easter weekend why not snuggle up with the family on the sofa and watch some Easter themed films on a Panasonic Viera tv. These all feature bunnies or Easter traditions. Do you have favourite Easter films or TV shows? Hop. The first film on my list is a modern classic. It is a brilliantly funny film, with both animation and live action. It has bunny rabbits, Easter chicks, lots of chocolate and seasonal fun. Oh and jelly beans are rabbit poop…..

Animal friends forever

We’re a nation of animal lovers. Few things score as highly on the scale of “ahhhhhh” as a picture of an adorable puppy or a playful kitten. YouTube is awash with hilarious videos of animals attacking their mirror images, chasing laser beams and getting themselves into tight squeezes.   And who hasn’t wasted an idle half hour giggling at one of the millions of cute cat compilations that invade our facebook timelines every day? Social media is responsible for giving some animals celebrity status and that’s led to spin offs like books deals, movies and even a clothing line. Yes, animals make us smile. But one of the reasons we love them so much is that they elicit a panorama of emotions in us – fear, disgust, awe, compassion, shock, joy, empathy . . .the list goes on.

Park Resorts at Cayton Bay 4

On Monday we drove up North to Cayton Bay in North Yorkshire, near Scarborough. The reason we came so far from home was my sister wanted to visit where our Grandparents lived. A place we remember for good and bad times. Upsettingly my sister let us down and hasn’t come – I won’t say much on that in case she reads this but I am disappointed. We wouldn’t have gone on a 4 hour drive except she suggested we go somewhere together. Now on to Park Resorts….. When we booked this months back we paid the deposit then a few weeks later got a very stroppy letter saying words similar to “you haven’t paid the full balance yet so your booking is cancelled and deposits lost”. We phoned the number on the letter and the phone system was a nightmare, I think on the third attempt we got through to […]

Romantic little things 3

Romantic doesn’t have to be a silly over-priced token gift. To me its the little things that are most romantic. Things like coffee and breakfast in bed, or when Blokey picks up on tiny things I say. As regular blog readers will know, I’ve had a troubled past. For me the sweetest thing ever was when we were talking about 80’s toys as we are the same age. I said how I used to collect Pound Puppies and Pound Purries but I had to leave them when I ran away, and I regretted that. Well I wasn’t dropping hints, I was not asking nor expecting him to find me any PP’s. But he went on ebay when I was asleep and bought a Pound Puppy mummy dog. The ones with the velcro tummy with babies inside. I was so surprised, a simple comment in a conversation, I had forgotten it […]

Early Spring Cleaning with John Lewis 2

Firstly I know it is not yet Spring, but January is a great time to have a proper clear out after all the chaos of Christmas. If your garden has been effected by all the heavy rain, like my poor garden has, I bet the carpet is a bit of a wreck? Around the same time I got Freya Woof, I got myself a cheap (entry level) Vax carpet washer ready for, erm, wet patches. I am extremely glad I bought this, but I keep thinking I should have forked out a little more for a better model like this one. I love my Vax and Blokey has previously accused me of being obsessed with washing the floor since I bought it. I’m not obsessed with cleaning, but I will admit I love seeing so much dirt come out of a carpet that looks clean, then just pouring it away. […]

Johnson’s Baby #LifeIsReborn TV Advert 2

Johnson’s Baby have been in touch about their new #LifeIsReborn adverts on the telly. They want to know how your life changed when a new baby was born in the family. Jen arrived in 2008, 6 years after his brother. Although he was my second child, it felt like being a new Mum in many respects. I had to start all over again. • New brother/sister – D wanted to become a big brother. He had in fact asked for a sibling, something he soon denied saying after he met his new brother and suddenly realised he now had a 50% share of the parents he had previously “owned”. • New Auntie/Uncle – My sister Fi seemed happy about Jen arriving, it made little impact on her daily life though, as we do not live nearby. I’d imagine she might have been less enthusiastic if nappy changing, or babysitting were […]

Thorntons The Snowman and Snowdog Chocolates

Bring a little bit of festive magic to someone special’s Christmas or New year with this extra-special range of choccy treats. The Snowman and Snowdog are favourite festive TV characters, and these gorgeous models are carefully crafted from Thorntons creamy white chocolate so won’t melt in the morning like snow but I can’t promise they’ll last too long as they are rather tasty!

Robot Wars Live 5

Oh Yes, Robot Wars is back, sadly not yet on TV. Who knows though, we all just need to make a bit more fuss about it so the TV companies notice it’s still going. I found out about Robot Wars in my local town just by chance. I needed a wee, oh the glamour, at least you know I write the truth, so I popped in to the local shopping centre as out town no longer has proper public loos.   I ran past this on the way to the “ladies room” and I could hardly believe my eyes. Behind Major Damage you might notice the delightful little retro Matilda, the house-bot. Ahhh memories of Craig Charles on the telly box getting super excited. (Mr CC isn’t part of the team still, but the men that replace him have huge passion.) I HAD to buy tickets. What I didn’t read […]

Ideas to Make Your Home Lighter 1

The obvious answer is turn some lights on, but that’s not what I’m going for in this post. If you are in rented accommodation it does limit your options somewhat but use mirrors as much as you can. I have a huge mirror on the chimney breast, it has retro advertising on it and I think it looks cool but it also bounces more light in to the room. Mirrors at the top of stairs are also great, especially if you hang it angled downward as it can bounce extra light down your stairs.
