Gloucester

Old Macdonalds camping, not going well.

Well it didn’t take long. Been here since Sunday and its gone wrong! Leaving Gloucester and trying to load the car up on Sunday was hindered and delayed by constant heavy rain and thunder. When we arrived here was rain showers and a bit windy. Made pitching our 6 person vango tent somewhat awkward. We got over that and got the tent up despite the English summer! We decided the extension canopy/awning would wait until Monday. The last 2 years in a row we’ve come here there has been a bunch of brats… I mean teenage children, that heckle my other half. Last year their name for him was potato, this year its wiffy. This sounds juvenile and pathetic, which of course it is, but I find it near impossible to ignore them. Whenever we leave the tent and are seen they laugh, point or shout things at us. I […]

Random kindness last weekend at the Rugby

We go to Gloucester rugby matches almost every weekend they play at home, last weekend was the last match of our season and just before the match another fan nearly reduced me to tears. Is it ok if I give it to him? ” Now I understand people can be funny about presents from strangers, but this was just so kind. The gift was a Jenson Button BrawnGP cap! Jen was pretty pleased and has been running around with it on, proudly yelling things like “I’m as fast as Jenson Button mum!” And “is this what Jenson Button wore when he winned […]

Gloucester City Residents weekend

I thought I would write a little something about Residents weekend. I saw a leaflet for this by chance, and after a bit of reading it seems that lots of Cities do this. This is great for me, as I only moved here a few years ago, and really know very little about the place I live! After a little look through the leaflet with my boys they had decided that of the attractions the light-ship sounded good, and so I have gone into the tourist information center with my proof of residency and got a “pass” for our family for the weekend. The idea of a light house on a boat is intriguing to me, but after reading up on it, it sounds like a hippy […]
