Quite some time ago I decided that I wanted the attic space to become an attic playroom for the boys – I got as far as adding carpet to our boarded out loft. It doesn’t quite allow for full standing up there, which is why at the moment the boys just use it to play with their LEGO train sets. It would be great to get back up there and really crack on with some with some work so that Jen and Dee have a play space they’ll use more often. We still need to use space up there for storage too but because of the angle of the roof we have a lot of wasted space, space I would like to fill with proper cupboards designed for silly spaces. I’ve been looking on Homify for ideas, and this is a sort of wish list. I know a lot of […]
Brewers Fayre are upping their game for the children this February half term and are hosting a barrel load of Beano fun in selected restaurants. Your little folks get a rather cool Beano comic to keep them busy at the table, or they can play in the soft play areas. The play areas have recently been given a Beano themed makeover and they can also ask for a Beano balloon after their dinner if they fancy it. On Friday 19th and Saturday 20th at selected Brewers Fayres there will even be a disco. The toddlers party is scheduled from 9:30am until 3pm then the bigger kids are welcomed between 3:30pm to 7:30pm and costs just £3 per child. Full details of the restaurants that are hosting these discos will be online at Brewers Fayre from 2nd February, so bookmark it now if you are interested. What was the comic itself […]
Today and yesterday I’ve been in the city, at Kensington Olympia for Toy Fair. This is a massive exhibition of toy brands and promoters, if you are a toy geek this might be heaven. Lego, Knex, Playmobil, Microscooters, Popples, Nerf, Care bears, Danger Mouse, Minions, tons of teddies and toy cars, . It’s all here. I’ve had some nice chats, and nearly nodded off in the press room. Note to self Do Not Sit Down when you are busy, it always makes me super sleepy. This is a bit like window shopping in a massive toy shop, you can’t buy things from most of the stands, the items are display toys – and you are encouraged to touch and try things out. I have found myself talking about toys I didn’t even know existed until this weekend, and fiddling with some toys I had previously dismissed as “not very good” […]
Sitting in the doctors surgery waiting for a Dee to have minor foot surgery we overheard the sweetest conversation between strangers. An elderly lady and a cute little ginger lad with amazing curls in his hair. She asked him if he was a good boy for his mum. “You’re being good for your mum today. Are you always this good? I bet you’re on Santa’s nice list aren’t you?” His face lit up. “I’ve wrote a list but it’s not super long like my the ones my sister writes” “do you think he’ll come for your big sister and give her toys then?“ “No she’s getting books and things.” Maybe she asked for books, or maybe he sees books as a bad gift but he was grinning as he said it. Was adorable listening, he pretty much recited everything he was hoping for and then told the lady that Father […]
Now the kids have been back at school for a little while head lice are rife again amongst my youngest and his school buddies. I remember having awful head lice at school myself, and that I could count the moving critters on the back of a certain girls head. Every time I got rid of them I would get them right back at class. I vividly remember the foul smelling witches brew of a cure that we had as nit treatment back then. Oh the smell would just not fade even if you washed it six times in a row. Luckily times have changed. Allow me to introduce Lyclear. It comes in a spray bottle to make it dead easy and fast.
At last. After years of wanting to, I am on the way to a F1 race. *squeal* I’ve loved grand prix motorsport since I was small, back in the Mansell years. Yet despite being a nearly life long fan I’ve never been to a race – the price is prohibitive to us normally. This time we can thanks to Planet Rock radio. A few months back I heard a comp on the radio to win 2 adult tickets and £250 spending money. So with that £250 we bought the kids entry tickets and this weekend that means its camping time! Freya has gone to her dog sitter and my next door neighbour will be feeding the small fluffy pets.
NISA or the New-ISA, I hadn’t heard about them either to be brutally honest. I am properly ditzy about savings and investments, I leave all this type of thing to Blokey. The New ISA (NISA) In his budget speech the Chancellor announced that from 1 July 2014 ISAs will be reformed into a much simpler product, the New ISA (NISA). Whatsmore, all existing ISAs will automatically convert to a New ISA. Meaning those already saving and investing into an ISA will benefit from the changes a foot. So what are the differences… Subscription limits From 1 July 2014 the overall subscription limit set by the Government for 2014/15 will increase from £11,880 to £15,000. It will be possible for new subscriptions to be split in any proportion between a New Cash ISA and New Stocks and Shares ISA – currently, investments into a Cash ISA are limited to a maximum […]
I know I know, I shouldn’t put exclamation marks in a title, but I have. So there. I am excited. We are going to Italy because I wrote this post recently. Daddy/Blokey can’t get time off work but Jen, D and I are going. All last week I was excited it is nearly #BritMumsLive now that isn’t as exciting (sorry bloggers).
Why is it my Jen hates brushing his teeth? He tries all kinds of excuses for why he shouldn’t and sadly his dentist wasn’t much help. When I said in his last appointment “Jen refuses to brush his teeth most days” she replied with “don’t worry these are still just the milk teeth” to me and later to Jen “your teeth are looking great, well done”. Not well done, they have big tartar lines along them. I was less than impressed. Luckily the folk at Oasis have been in touch and sent Jen some charts and stickers and sugar free lollipops as rewards.
