Hello Harry 10

Today this happened. My neighbour wrote on Facebook earlier “young guinea pig, free to good home”. For a little while I’ve been considering getting a pal for Patch rabbit. Patch is mega old, about 10 years old. According to the posters in the pet shops rabbits live until about 6 years old, erm? Anyhow Patch hates other rabbits, I have introduced him to seven other rabbits over the years, he hated all of them but he tolerated our elderly guinea pig, Dotty, who passed away a while ago now.

Review of the Ozeri duo salt and pepper grinder 4

I received this product a while back now, but was unsure what to write. The Ozeri Duo Ultra Salt and Pepper Grinder* looks brilliant on the kitchen table, and is a real space saver. The RRP is high at £29.99 but can be found on Amazon now at £9.95. If I was to pay a tenner for this it’s good, but for Thirty pounds I would have been very disappointed. It is a fabulous idea, yet it doesn’t quite seem to “work” somehow. The bottom of the grinder is the stand, but also the funnel for filling the mills. This means you can’t lose the base, so it gets put back on to the grinder, but then I have to remind my children to remove the base before use.

Defrauding charity #FoodBanks 10

Today the Daily Mail / Mail on Sunday paper is the most hated thing on the internet after the article by Ross Slater, closely followed by that big brother woman. You must have read this today? About the lying reporter wasting time and stealing food? Michelle from Crowther Clan blog wrote this post earlier. A well worded moan at the Daily Mail, which I recommend reading. Also Mummy Glitzer wrote a brilliant blog post about food banks.

Park Resorts at Cayton Bay 4

On Monday we drove up North to Cayton Bay in North Yorkshire, near Scarborough. The reason we came so far from home was my sister wanted to visit where our Grandparents lived. A place we remember for good and bad times. Upsettingly my sister let us down and hasn’t come – I won’t say much on that in case she reads this but I am disappointed. We wouldn’t have gone on a 4 hour drive except she suggested we go somewhere together. Now on to Park Resorts….. When we booked this months back we paid the deposit then a few weeks later got a very stroppy letter saying words similar to “you haven’t paid the full balance yet so your booking is cancelled and deposits lost”. We phoned the number on the letter and the phone system was a nightmare, I think on the third attempt we got through to […]

The Manics in Cardiff 5

I am pretty sure people that know me well know I love the Manic Street Preachers. Last night was my Christmas present. Blokey gave me a xmas card with a note saying “this is a promise of a hotel booking, manics gig tickets for two and a babysitter”. We don’t get much alone time without the boys. A very thoughtful gift I thought although it was a long wait.

Splashing pebbles 3

Yesterday we went to visit Blokey’s Grandad. He is a very elderly chap, who had a stroke a few years back so whenever we go round he’s always in his chair. The boys can’t remember him pre-stroke so they struggle a bit. I remember him being a bit chattier so I understand his speech. Although the kids like the great grandparents they do act like caged animals when we leave their house. Too much sitting still and behaving! So afterwards we went for a muck about at the park. It was a hot sunny day, so ice cream and a walk about the pond. This soon turned into chucking sticks into the water, then pebbles. A bit of tree climbing. Fishing out clumps of fish eggs or frog spawn using long twigs, but carefully so we didn’t kill anything, and we put it back in the same place we found […]

Batman fancy dress outfit review – joke.co.uk

Today, as I bet every parent knows, is World Book Day. It is a day I often dread, and I know I’m not the only parent that struggles with WBD dress up outfits. But this year its all good, Jokers masquerade online costume shop have sent us a Batman outfit for Jen. Oddly though his school aren’t dressing up today, they are doing it tomorrow instead. Confusion followed as a few kids were in fancy dress, I felt so bad for the lad in a fluffy lion suit this morning. A photo of Jen will be added here tomorrow. The Batman outfit is made by Rubies fancy dress, which is a brand I have heard of before. It is in 3 main pieces, the all-in-one body suit, a mask with the cape attached to it, and a rubbery belt. The suit is like a big onesie, which opens at the […]

Swans don’t like dogs! 8

Yesterday the kids were bored and moaning they didn’t want to go out. They’d gone a bit stir crazy in fact and all the overly aggressive “playing” was worrying me. It was one of them days. After another time-out moment Blokey and I told them to get coats, shoes and the woofs lead. We hadn’t had lunch yet, and Blokey and I just needed to get them out of the house. We popped to a certain popular drive through to grab lunch without leaving the woof.

Last minute romantic getaways 2

At this time of year I am sure some of my readers are hoping to be whisked away by their other half. Or maybe you are the one doing the planning? Nothing beats a bit of alone time, perhaps cream teas and costal walks, or gyms and spas, maybe even sight-seeing? I’ve been thinking about places I would love to be taken to, whether for Valentines day or not, but I would love a relaxing child free break with my Blokey to be honest. The areas of the country we have spent a lot of time in over the years are Yorkshire, Devon and Cornwall, and of course Gloucestershire where I now live. Yorkshire If you like “Up North” then Scarborough is ace, I am biased though, as I have a few happy memories from my Grandparents living around there. Ox Pasture hall is a lovely looking cottage-like country house, with ivy growing up […]
