Ten things about me 2

About me, ten unusual things, that sounds easy enough? 1. I am ambidextrous. I can write with either hand, I do some things instinctively right handed, some left and certain things I have no preference at all. 2. I wrote in mirror writing before learning to write the normal way. My primary school teachers often marked my work with a mirror as I’d forget which direction was normal. 3. I can’t do forward rolls or anything like that but I can get my feet to my head. Not quite behind my head like some kind of yoga ninja, but I could (not that I want to) bite my toenails.

A few healthy things – win 26

You might remember me saying that I am trying to be more healthy.  That I want to lose weight and be fitter? Well this week I’ve been mostly drinking More. I don’t mean drink more like too much and being desperate for a wee,  I mean More drinks. It’s a range of flavoured water with added vitamins.  It’s certainly an improvement on fizzy pop health wise,  and I don’t like tap water. I think I am More’s target audience – I want to be healthier but I’m fussy and don’t want it to taste like a diet item. If it’s flat and boring I won’t be drinking it! These are diet drinks though, as the blue one (get more vitamin A,  blackcurrant and blueberry flavour) is just 6 calories with zero sugar for a 500ml bottle. They cost about £1 to £1.50 depending on the shop and current offers. You […]

Win – Girls night in 15

Staying in is the new going out apparently. I rarely go out at night myself, preferring a DVD at home on the sofa with my family and homemade popcorn. Yes, I’ve become a bit old and sensible. ·         ‘Blended’ and ‘The Other Woman’ on DVD. ·         A bingo board game. ·         4 face masks. ·         A £10 supermarket voucher for a shop of your choice. I’d suggest buying popcorn and sweets with the £10 and stick your feet up on the sofa with some mates. Maybe some mugs of hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Hello Blog Camp 7

Right now I am sat in a session at Blog Camp. Sally opened with the title “Pro blogging is crap” which made me laugh.   Saying that really those 50 quid blog posts are under minimum wage when you factor in the blogging and photography and editing and administration and and and …. She’s right. It’s very low pay really, but I like it. I like meeting new people,  well I do and I don’t!  Most people are lovely but some are just so different from me I struggle to talk to them,  to relate.

Dear stalkers 7

Why do I get stalkers?  I am that interesting weird unusual or do I have a post-it note stuck on me that says “stalk me”? I’ve been stalked before, more than once. This time I think it’s over. You see I have routines as a Mum, I can’t just not take Jen to primary school because of that man watching me. My house, despite being in a city, backs on to fields and a lovely view. Great, unless you’ve got an unwanted friend. Let me give him a fake name.  Carl. Each morning Carl is there, waiting, standing by a gateway between 2 fields,  looking directly towards my home, waiting,  checking his watch. I run at my  car, avoiding eye contact,  and lock the car doors when my hounds and little lad are in the car. I want to walk,  I didn’t feel safe walking, knowing I’m being watched. Since […]

Breakfast in bed guide 1

The lovely folk at Roberts bakery sent some goodies to me for mother’s day breakfast in bed. I didn’t get breakfast in bed, as our friend came to stay from Friday to Sunday and I forgot he was coming. I am a bad friend, oops! I ate chocolates in bed though, that’s good too?

nit comb

Head lice, schools and sleepover tips 3

Now the kids have been back at school for a little while head lice are rife again amongst my youngest and his school buddies. I remember having awful head lice at school myself, and that I could count the moving critters on the back of a certain girls head. Every time I got rid of them I would get them right back at class. I vividly remember the foul smelling witches brew of a cure that we had as nit treatment back then. Oh the smell would just not fade even if you washed it six times in a row. Luckily times have changed. Allow me to introduce Lyclear. It comes in a spray bottle to make it dead easy and fast.

Chicago town pizza 1

Back in summer, just before the trip to Italy we tried out Chicago town take style pizza. Unsurprisingly looking a holiday to Italy, flights, dog and pet sitters, travel to the airport and time off for school meant I got distracted and forgot! As it goes I was eating Chicago town pizza whilst packing for the Italy trip.
