#WinningWeekends (19 Sep) 5

Welcome to this weeks #WinningWeekends. This is a competitions linky. A list of blog based, open to the UK, competitions. I started this linky as I like competitions and know bloggers can get lots of new followers from competitions. As I am both a blogger and a comper I totally love anything to do with competitions and it is great fun when you win something you want. If you are a blogger, share your competition urls here. If you are a comper just get entering and winning things. Please note, the linky widget confuses people because it says “NAME” please pretend that says “link name” or “post title”. If you can mention the prize and closing date in there it would be great. If you link up a post, please consider putting this badge in to the link post, or in your blog sidebar to join in regularly. Thank you! […]

Summer Holidays and in-car arguements 2

Shortly before we went on our little “road trip” camping we downloaded a few child friendly films on to the tablet devices. This meant that when we got stuck in traffic chaos on the M5 on the way we had a secret weapon, and also for wet days in the tent. British holidays or staycations can be a bit of a downer for the lads if it’s all wet outside. One evening we had an in-tent movie night, watching Turbo, Rio 2 and The Lego Movie whilst drinking hot chocolate in camping mugs and ignoring the damp stuff falling from the sky.

Mini masterpieces with Galt 3

Jen and D had a go at crafting with the Galt mini mosaics set. Lots of lovely sticky foam squares – think colour by numbers but a whole lot cuter. We were encouraged to join in with this competition for the little ones to create mini masterpieces. The problem with this was Jen and D loved the set so much they didn’t want to “waste” mosaic bits on it – sorry Galt, but this does mean it is a great kit. So it’s a big thumbs up from my boys. The idea was to use the mosaic squares to recreate “The Kiss” painting by Gustav Klimt.  This is a very famous artwork, but I had never heard of it, sorry Klimt! Jen used watercolour paint, crayons, and wax pastels from his craft and art draw to colour in his own The Kiss. D just wanted to use the mosaics set in the proper way. This […]

Picnic outfit challenge post 2

A little while back I was contacted on behalf of House of Fraser about a picnic outfit post. Well I chose my boys some clothing by name it, which seem to be a relaxed trendy range. My lads don’t really do posh outfits, I wanted something they would wear by choice, not just if I insist they wear it. I was asked to choose up to £50 in clothing for the boys, so naturally I hit the sales section. I did the shopping so well in fact that it was exactly £50, I can’t link to them all though, as they are now sold out. For Jen I chose Navy blue trousers and a “soda” print t-shirt. For D it was also navy blue trousers, a “retro” grey print t-shirt, and a grey and blue hoodie. Sadly the hoodie doesn’t fit D, but he did like it.

Blog takeover : Eats Amazing 3

As I am still in Italy I have a treat for you, a blog post all about beautiful bento lunches. Hello lovely readers, do let me introduce myself! My name is Grace, and I blog over at Eats Amazing on the subject of healthy children’s food, with a particular focus on the bento style lunches that I make daily for my six year old son. Julie very kindly asked me to write a guest post for her, and I was very happy to oblige – I do love rambling on about my favourite hobby – bento! You may be wondering what on earth bento is, but if you are, don’t worry, I’m here to enlighten you! Bento is a Japanese word, meaning ‘convenient’, and it refers to a meal, packed in a box, most commonly for lunch. It’s basically the Japanese equivalent of packed lunches. What makes bento different from […]

#WinningWeekends (6 Jun) 2

Welcome to the #WinningWeekends blog competition linky. Same as usual, pop your lovely links in the boxes below. For example put “30/6 Win a bunch of roses – MyBlogName” in the box marked NAME if you’re running a comp to give away a dozen lovely roses and the competition ends on 30th June. I don’t know about you, but I like to have a clue what I am clicking up front, and the closing date is just super helpful as I know some competition hunters look at posts from the last few weeks as well as the most recent post. #WinningWeekends means that bloggers can quickly link up their posts, and maybe grab a badge to show support, and compers can find a few nice competitions they might have missed. Even if you aren’t a “comper” you might just fancy a quick flutter on a few competitions if you are […]

Run away from the footie 10

In this house none of us like football, so things like the football world cup are not fun to us. So many people suddenly wearing just their countries team colours. So many “did you see that goal” comments the day after a big game. I am sorry footie fans, I just don’t get what is fun about it. To be honest I’d much rather be in warmer place, somewhere where I don’t speak the lingo. Somewhere I miss the “did you see the game last night? Shocking performance wasn’t it?” from the locals as I won’t have a clue what they are saying. Somewhere I’ve never been. Somewhere with good food and ice cream. ITALY.

Play.com want to know about your #ReasonsToShop (competition ended) 166

I was a happy bunny when the folk at Play.com contacted me to ask if I wanted a gift from their gardening category. Yes, yes please was my reply. What I picked out might seem dull or boring, but I was about to go and buy similar in town. As I’ve mentioned more than once, pet chickens are organised and efficient garden destroyers. They dig, scratch and peck at things obsessively. The chickens pecked and scratched so much that my lawn edging was shredded, as is most of my garden. We had a cheaper lawn edging like this product on Play. The cheper option is £10 for my bed, or £30 for the better fake stone option I chose.

Bank holiday weekend as a #MorrisonsMum 8

Last weekend I was lucky enough to get sent some Morrisons shopping vouchers and asked for my opinions on Morrisons prices, quality and the experience as a whole. Morrisons were extremely generous and sent hundreds of blogging parents shopping vouchers, so we could all give them a go, and look out for the “I’m Cheaper” logos. To be honest we normally shop elsewhere, but with a new store open in Gloucester this was the perfect excuse to go to M instead.
