You might remember about a month ago i adopted an adorable old girl guinea pig, Dotty. Well as she settled in her behavior became a bit territorial so I started to doubt little Dotty’s gender… Then hubby made a comment about it too. So I checked a few pet websites and had to have a very close look at Dotty to verify, but Dotty is definitely a lad.
Good thing we didn’t have another piggy at home really! I advise anyone getting a guinea pig from a friend or pet shop to googling for information on the differences between male and female guinea pigs or cavies as the Americans seem to refer to them. The problem with piggies of both sexes is their bits are concealed and both have nipples too so both appear female on first inspection.
In case you were wondering HE is doing fine, and here he is having a snooze under his tunnel.
Dotty is adorable, whether male or female! Nice that Jensen has another pet now too. Felt so sorry for him when your bunny died. x
