Today I had to go for my therapy assessment. Was a big old building, not very welcoming as the door had several buzzer systems, a massive door knob and a few separate locks. Could be worse, plenty of improvement space though. I pressed the buzzer marked “reception” and say hi I’ve got an appointment. She replies OK then, but fails to let my in. I try a few times. Feel vulnerable and stupid stood on the doorstep of this building, massive mental health signs on the fence. Three students sat on the high steps of a Victorian house on the other side of the road, I might as well have been wearing a dunce hat with CRAZY in flashing neon lights. Could hear their comments, wasn’t a pleasant place to be. Luckily a patient (I assume as she had no badges or NHS pass card lanyard thingy “doctors” normally have) […]

This morning I woke up a little late as usual. But in my defence I’m not sleeping well.Today was the Misters birthday. I had two lots of cakey surprises…. The first lot was “breakfast in bed”. I had the tray of muffins under the bed, just reached over and grabbed them. He was shocked. I got shop bought muffins, placed them deceptively well into a 6 cake oven tray and iced OLD GIT on top. Presented them with a card that read “freshly made by me, well kinda. It’s the thought that counts right?” I am not a cook at all, and he appreciated the effort. Takes longer to walk to the shop than baking muffins would take, by if I’d made them they wouldn’t have tasted as nice. After this I took two cutesy cupcakes downstairs to him full of lit candles. Jenny suddenly likes bird watching 5

Little Jen has decided he likes the birds. We regularly feed them bread etc, and we have a feeder spike with seeds and peanuts on just out of cats reach. Jenny has realised that one young blackbird is less afraid of him than other birds are. This blackbird allows him to get as near as about 5 feet away! Other slightly trusting locals are a mother great tit (we think its the one that nests in our guttering), and a starling. Here are some photos of Jenny trying to sneak up on his feathered friends. In one you can see the blackbird in flight by the street light. In another look at the top of the feeder spike, Jenny’s friend is perched there very close to him. Gloucester City Residents weekend

I thought I would write a little something about Residents weekend. I saw a leaflet for this by chance, and after a bit of reading it seems that lots of Cities do this. Basically a few of the local “Sights” will open for free or reduced prices to local people in Gloucester on the 11th and 12th of Feb. This is great for me, as I only moved here a few years ago, and really know very little about the place I live! After a little look through the leaflet with my boys they had decided that of the attractions the light-ship sounded good, and so I have gone into the tourist information center with my proof of residency and got a “pass” for our family for the weekend.
