I have never been to Cheltenham races, even though I live so close to Racecourse. We’ve all heard of Ladies day (which is  on the 11th of March this year), crazy dresses and wild hats. This year though Cheltenham are doing things differently.  The best dressed fillies will be chosen solely via social media.  They are calling this contest #ColourMeMarch and I’ve entered.

I do, I know this might give you a mental image of old folks at a retirement home, but it’s not like that. Almost every holiday park we go to I play bingo* in the evenings, just one book usually so around the price of a latte. I’ve never been keen on bingo in arcades, collecting tickets and taking them to a kiosk to cash in about a billion winning tickets for a single Mars bar. Nope! I’ll be honest I have played online bingo and won some, and lost some too.

A couple of years ago we made the mistake of putting our boys in a bunk bed in the box room. Our home isn’t huge and it seemed a great idea to have both Jen and D sleep in the box room, and share D’s older room as a playroom. Sadly as neither truly has their own space they argue like cat and dog over territory! If you’re considering doing similar, don’t. It might be one of the worse home making decisions we ever made. They need their own space, even if one of them gets a box room.

After the long summer school holidays it can be tricky to get back in to an “after school routine” again. I will admit I am far from the perfect mum, I am a lazy cook and just want food that is easy. So when BritMums got in touch about #AfterSchoolChefs with Birds Eye frozen foods I was interested. Normally Blokey cooks for me the night before and I just bung it back in the oven to feed the kiddies and me. He’s a great guy really, he irons too (no you can’t borrow him). They want to know about after school routines, well I walk with the hound to the local little school to collect Jen, it is around a mile each way. This evening Jen drew a monster. He has called him Bob. He is a friendly monster. He has no mouth. Apparently he is kind and cannot eat children  because he has no mouth. So I asked how does he eat and Jen explained “Bob eats by squashing nasty things into his ears like flies and spiders and ants and snails. His ears have tiny teeth doors like on Venus fly plants that eat the bugs.” So he’s friendly and helpful because he’s a cute pest control monster, you don’t need to feed him as he forages under the sofa for spiders, and in the garden for flies.
