This week with hot weather and sudden downpours of rain my fruit trees and flowers have been doing great.
A long quite ago I planted lots of wildflower and grass seeds, with bulbs buried underneath.
At last it looks like I intended, long grass with flowers and bushes overshadowed by fruit trees.
After these photos were taken I stripped the fruit trees – Blokey is cooking a pie this weekend.
It might not be a picture postcard garden, but it works. The grasses please the rabbits, the flowers please bee’s which means we get more fruit. Now I know this plan works I will do the same next Spring.

The rain makes such a difference doesn’t it? I’ve nearly completely emptied our waterbutts watering veggies now. I love a functional garden – it works for you as a family and it looks good – what’s not to love? Enjoy that pie this weekend – instagram me a photo!
Thanks for joining in! x
Great post, I love a bit of gardening and I love Plums, my parents are going to get a plum tree for their garden. I can’t wait 🙂
I spent the weekend in my garden, no where near as nice as yours but I am hoping it will be a success! Fingers crossed
I am jealous, I always wanted fruit trees but don’t have the space for them
My garden is only little Alison. 8 standard wooden fence panels long, but only 5 are garden, the rest is a garage with a tarmac space I can’t use as Blokey leaves the camping trailer there. Its amazing what you can do in the smaller gardens if you are determined.
