On Monday I went to London to meet Panasonic and two other bloggers to help them launch their new beauty range. Sabina from Deep in Mummy matters and Emma from Bloomzy. We met up at The Drawing Room salon. It’s a newish salon, but looks very old. Instead of modern furniture and stainless steel everywhere it was stone and wood and tiles. Very Georgian. The whole place felt antiquey – seriously check out Sabina’s post (linked above) for amazing photos of the venue.
We had our hair washed and blow dried. My hair is thick and full, and well, awkward. It never behaves as it should, and takes quite some work to style. The lovely men of The Drawing Room worked together on my hair – one armed with the shiny new Nanoe Panasonic hairdryer and a round brush I had hoped wall fall in to my handbag, whilst the other was armed with clips. As soon as each section was blow dried and curled it was clipped sharpish. When it was nearly done I felt like a Doris – lots of round loops all over my head like invisible curlers. The hairdryer itself was not that loud, if you were so inclined you could chat over it – I am weird I always go quiet and want to sleep when in “the chair” so I probably seemed rude, but at least I stayed awake!
When it was done all I could think was Marilynn – Doris was dead. I have curlers you sleep in, and they didn’t work for me, I have a curling wand, also doesn’t quite cut it. It turns out all I need is my own stylists, well two of them! Whose got my winning lotto ticket eh?
After having our hair done Sabina, Emma and myself went down stairs with the Panasonic staff for lunch. Picnic food but it tasted lovely – I had apple juice served in a massive scotch glass. For those that know me it would have been an amusing sight given the fact I am allergic to alcohol – it looked like I wanted to die with perfect hair. Note to my Blokey, I want Marilynn hair for my funeral in a few decades ok?
Then on to the serious bit. getting our paws on Panasonic’s new beauty range. For now its a mega exclusive at Boots, in fact Boots don’t have it all yet! There is a hairdryer, straighteners, epilator, facial steamer and a smart toothbrush in the range. For now they seem to have just the hairdryer and the epilator, but by Christmas present shopping time I am sure Boots will have it all.
We had each item fully demonstrated and spoken about, although I was a bit disappointed I couldn’t talk Emma in to epilating there and then. She told us she had never every done it, so I wanted her to do it, imagine the YouTube hits for that one if she screamed or cried? Sorry Emma!
Before going I hadn’t thought I’d be excited by an epilator, but now I want it! It’s safe to use in the shower, you can use it with gels/creams and so on, it has a special head to pre-stretch the skin in tricky bits like the underarms so it plucks right, and less painfully. It has an LED light so you can see missed hairs, and even a shaver head in case you don’t fancy it that day but still want to wear a dress. But the best bit, it has a pedi attachment. Sounds random right? But think about it a moment… It Is Genius. I was just considering buying one of those pedicure machine thingyamywhatsits. Why has no one done this before? Love it!
I had thought I’d prefer the hairdryer, and it’s good. When you use it, it has Nanoe technology as Panasonic are calling it. It does something, it dries you hair of water but doesn’t dry your hair out. To be honest you could just use this dryer and ditch the straighteners – it’s that good. It also has a pretty funky diffuser if you weren’t planning on straight hair.
Disclosure: Panasonic provided me with a wash and blow dry, some lunch and train fare for the purpose of this post. The photos and words are my own.
