After all the recent fuss about photos of sick kids on facebook I wanted to write something positive, to try to encourage sharing in a good way.
If you have managed to avoid this new craze of pimping out photos for as many “Likes and shares” as they can get, then consider yourself lucky.
I’m all for helping ill children, and there are lovely sites out there like Post Pals, where you write a letter or send a present to a child via a lovely team of people, so the child’s home address never gets made public. Or you could have a look around on Just Giving for people doing sponsored things to raise money for charities.
Or you could even start an event, do a sponsored walk, sitting in a bath of baked beans, or having your hair shaved / dyed ludicrous colours in the hopes of getting charity funds.
Or you could tidy your wardrobe and give away some clothes that you haven’t worn in months.
All of these things cost you money one way or another, but TheHungerSite is a free way to help charity. Go on, have a look and stick it in your favourites list. It works by sponsors paying for the donated “clicks” for a day each. I can’t prove its legit, but I believe it is, I have been using it since the early 2000’s myself.
The homepage is covered in adverts, these are why the sponsors agree to donate to fund your clicks, but I can ignore all those adverts as its a brilliant site really.
You could even tweet a couple of times about it – seems not many people I’ve mentioned it to had heard of it.
Suggested tweet: “Do something positive? Help #Charity by donating for #FREE, see http://www.TheHungerSite.com and RT to increase awareness of #TheHungerSite”
Whilst you are there have a look along the top menu, they have similar pages on the site to help Rainforest’s, Veteran’s or child Literacy.
I haven’t been asked to write this post, like I said I just felt I had to do something positive.
