Did You Know Furniture Should be Anchored? 4

I have just been reading this week about Meghan. A girl who was killed when her dresser, or chest of draws as we’d call it, fell on her. It really shocked me and got my attention. My boys have had their book shelf fall on them! Seems my boys were lucky. It’s eight years since her death and to mark the anniversary her mother, Kimberly, wrote some very long, thoughtful and moving posts. This post explains in detail what happened, and has photos of the furniture. Thing is it looks sturdy, solid, and harmless. Be with me just for today…. it’s utterly heartbreaking, yet beautiful. I could understand a huge fully laden bookcase injuring a child, but killing them?!? I had no idea that those little straps that come in Ikea wardrobe screw packs were important. And I’ve only ever seen them with Ikea items, and never read a serious warning […]

Santa Has Been But..

He was a bit annoyed the kids have been fighting all day and didn’t tidy up like they promised him when they saw him a fortnight ago. All the gifts are under the tree but….. Tree is fenced off. Nice gifts. That’s right boys. Santa has put you both on the naughty list. Christmas is not cancelled, I just want some manners and respect.

Traditional Christmas games.. 2

The other evening I snapped a lovely couple of photos of my boys, during a rare occurrence, we were all playing family games together. Sadly the smiles didn’t last long, Jen had a temper tantrum and ran off saying was unfair, despite him majorly wining. He had thousands, we only had a couple of hundred notes each, and he had properties with hotels! Was cute, while it lasted.

Kaboom – The Breakdown Post 8

Well, what can I say? I think kaboom is a great word for what’s going on. Last weekend I had a mental breakdown, it had been building for some time to be fair. I’ve been saying “I’m fine” way too much, as I just don’t know how to express how bad I feel. Kaboom… This resulted in me wanting to throw myself from the upstairs window on Saturday night, luckily I suppose, I have phobias, including a fear of heights. This meant I just was shaking uncontrollably instead, crying so much I felt like I was drowning from snot, and all around my eyes hurt like I had been punched in the face. I got up, went to work, struggling lots. Sunday night, same thing, so depressed it hurt. My partner had told me to stop snivelling and attention seeking. I wasn’t attention seeking, I was breaking from the inside. […]

Goodbye Nanny Mildge, We LOVE You 3

It is nearly over, My Nan’s doctors are no longer treating her following the stroke and unconsciousness. They are just keeping the drip going, and painkillers if she seems uncomfortable. They want to let her die. I am still torn as to whether Nan could hear me talking, whether she knew I held her hand for hours, and was rubbing her shoulder. I know she reacted to Jen’s voice, but did she “hear” it or was it a reflex? That question will haunt me a long time I am sure. My Nan was like a Mum to me, we lived with her when I was little. Then when things all got awkward I lived with Nan and gramps as a teenager too. Right now its like torture, I am waiting for my Nan to die, then feeling awfully guilty for thinking this. She might have hope I thought, but if […]

Is he a teenager early, or am I going mental?

Today D has been really rather rude with me, J and Daddy. I lost count of the number of naughty steps, we are talking double figures though. Every time he communicates he has an evil/sarcastic voice and an attitude to match. I need help, I need time off. I hide from him! I just feel like a failure, whatever I do or say it ends badly. The last time I had time off was in November when I went to Australia…. so naughty no one will babysit. Ironically I’m babysitting the niece and nephew right now. We are all sofa now, they are all laughing so hard at classic muppets on dvd, its dead sweet actually.

The day my Children met my Dad 2

I was looking through old photos last night and found some photos I wanted to share. These are taken on the ONLY time my Dad has met my sons. I nearly cried looking at them…….. These were taken on Halloween 2009. Its now 2 years since then, and he hasn’t come to see us. I can’t contact him as he doesn’t tell me his address, email or phone number. I love being the unwanted unplanned child, really, I do. 🙁 I’ve only seen this brother and sister once except the meeting photo’d here which hurts aswell to be honest. This meeting only came about as I found an old phone number and phoned him, D had been asking lots of awkward questions “Who is your Dad?” “If he’s my grandad why has he never met me?” “is he embarrassed by me Mum?” and so on. I gave my Dad an […]

Nearly time to say bye bye 2

A family member on my Blokey’s family died recently. Its the funeral on Wednesday this week. We’ve been getting ready, in unusual style!! The lovely, and much missed relative was Auntie Linda, or SmileyL. She was so inspirational, sick her entire life, but smiled almost constantly. She even collected anything with a Yellow Smiley face on, hats, mugs, wind up desk toys, pens, balloons….. you name it. If it was vivid yellow and had stray punctuation on it, she owned it. Sooo, in honour we have got a custom funeral flowers posy plate thingamy. Bright yellow floral smiley face! Like the one on this page, but from a local florist http://www.rays.floristblog.co.uk/?p=353 Ohhh and Blokey is going in a smiley t-shirt. Similar to this http://www.zazzle.co.uk/
