Kindness And Carrots 4

I went to the local Co-op on Wednesday after school, nothing unusual. We wanted basics, bread, a cold drink, something to go with dinner. Whilst we were in there we saw a small printed notice reminding customers that the “Goodness Gang” promotion ends soon and to get the teddies quick. Jen looked at the shelf were the veggie teddies had been, they had just two left. A pair of carrot teddies was all that was left. Jen started to worry, and had a distressed look on his face. As our items were being scanned through I asked the young lady on the till a cheeky question. I said “my son really had his heart set on a veggie teddy, but we’ve only got half a book of stickers, could we perhaps buy it with half the stickers and a fiver?” (the teddies cost a tenner each without the stickers) but […]

Happy Campers 3

The last few days we have been camping in Devon, hence the silence from myself on social media. I get ordinary phone signal, but 3G has gone on holiday round these parts. We are staying on the River Dart country park. It is nice, we are pitched under the overhang of a sycamore tree, all around us is more family tents.

How To Make A Decent Catapult 3

Well, after the eBay fuss I bought some catapult latex/elastic straps and searched hedges for a decent stick. Bingo, a windy evening and the next morning I was spoilt for choice. You need there to be a symmetrical Y shape in the wood, if it’s wonky it still works but the aim is all wrong. Sawing the branch into a Y shape. Yes, I know I know, chicken runs are not ideal work benches. You need to cut the “handle” end to be about the length of a brand new pencil, and the two angled branches a little shorter.

Other Parents Children At The Park 7

Today was pretty much the last straw. A child I’ll called Jamie (because it’s the only unisex name I can think of right now) follows my sons and I everywhere. It’s not just following, Jamie bosses us around, *do this, I want to do that, put my on the ride*. Sounds ok, now imagine you’ve waited ten minutes for both swings to be empty because your youngest wants to “race mummy on the swings” and the second we sit down Jamie appears “my turn.” trying my very best to stay calm I say “My son and me are playing, please wait” so Jamie just asks again and again and a-flipping-gain! I have to walk away, we go to a different toy, a climbing wall. Guess what, yup! Jamie tries to push in and tells me “lift me up” so I suggest to my lad we do the zip wire, yes, […]

The Boy and The Bunnies 2

Cute overload…. WARNING, too cute.It was dry this evening, so we made the most of it. Jen and I went outside with the bunnies on their leads.Bart is wearing the pink set and Mo is in dark green. These photos make it seem like a lazy evening, but these bunnies are untrained and cheeky things, I was mostly running the circles around our Christmas tree. After a short time, Jen abandoned me and got his bike and helmet and cycled up and down the paths, whilst I walked the bunnies followed them about. And finally… both boys, tired out on my sofa. I have added this to my friend @PinkOddy’s #MotivationalMonday linky.

Making Up Memories 2

I recently won a £100 Groupon voucher, which I’m so grateful for. Thanks again to Luci at mother.wife.me blog. A few months back the school photographers came in to class and the pictures they took were awful. Jen was dressed all wonky, shirt hanging out and disinterest all over his face. D was cross eyed and bored.   This will be the only year my boys are at the same school as D is top year juniors and Jen started at infants this year.We were upset the photos were so poor. It was like having a memory stolen from us. We had been looking at professional photo studios, and partner said “the boys Will need a good haircut first?” so we were looking at a three figure sum to fix this. Then I saw this on my Groupon app: “Family Photoshoot With Two Children’s Haircuts, Canvas Print and Additional Prints […]
