#OOTD – respect and denim 2

I thought I would share an outfit of the day or OOTD post with you.
Today I am wearing old items I like.

My skirt is a New look item, as is the black ruffle top. My crop sleeved cardie is by Wallis. The eagle-eyed might also notice a Fitbit and a poppy brooch*.

I love ancient old denim. Worn so much it moves nicely, not stiff and uncomfortable. Faded but in a good way.

I like these clothes even more because they are frugal. The skirt is 10 years old and came to me via Freecycle. The black ruffle top is at least 12 years old as I’ve had it since D was a baby. The cardie is from a charity shop. The brooch makes it though. To me poppies are a sign of respect, not an endorsement of war, but respect to all who have served their countries.

I was sent this brooch almost immediately after the “yarnbombing” post where I photographed beautiful knitted poppies on a fence. I wanted one of those knitted poppies so much, but I won’t steal. If I knew who knitted them I’d have asked to buy one. So it was a bit like karma to be offered the lovely crochet brooch by Museum Selection. It isn’t wool, it is a much stiffer thread that retains its shape much better. This was confirmed by Freya Woof sleeping on it and it still looks perfect. It costs £29.99 but it truly is lovely, a statement in jewellery form.
