I’ve spent the last few days syringe feeding Maggie but its over. I tried dear Maggie, I’m sorry you couldn’t pull through.
I let Bart and Mo, her hutch buddies, see her and say bye. Bart sniffed at her then tried putting his nose to hers, I guess he was checking for breathing. Mo looked sad, hopped past her and turned round so he was facing the same way Maggie’s body was, and laid down with her. That broke the tears out. He took about 1 minute, maybe an effort to warm her up? Then sulked off to his bedroom.
I pick her up in her tea towel shroud and kiss her head and stroke her a final time. Good night my Maggie, just as the sun sets, good night Maggie Moo.

Oh hun I was reading about Maggie last night after I noticed your status I had no words but hoped she would be ok.. At least her last part of her life was filled with love and friendship – sending *huge hugs to you all* RIP little Maggie play well at Rainbow Bridge little one. x
Glad I tried to make her better. £80 lighter due to vet bills but not trying would be wrong. I cried like a baby cancelling Maggie’s check up at vets this week. I managed to bury her next to our apple tree but I can’t empty her hutch yet. I’ve dumped it in the green house. Was weird, she didn’t look dead, still seemed “real” and ok until you touch her. Not sure if it was right having Bart and Mo say their bye byes but I thought they needed to see her.
so sorry x
Thank you Lisa sweetie
So sorry
Thank you for linking up
Thank you for hosting. I know mine is a miserable post, but it summed up my weekend well. After a few days of hand feeding, 4 doses of medicines and loads of hugs she just stopped breathing. Just like that.
I am so sorry for your loss. 🙁
Thanks Christy
I’m so sorry!
Honestly you and your typist are lovely Dalton. Thank you.
I never thought about letting pets say goodbye to each other, but I think it’s a really lovely thought! I am so sorry for your loss!
Thank you. I caught Mo and Bart looking towards me a bit like “why is our person carrying Maggie about? Why isn’t Maggie moving?” i wasnt planning to put her with them, but its like they were trying to get her attention, I figured it would be mean to ignore them, plus the apple tree she’s resting under is in view of their hutch – what if they thought I was burying her alive? Poor fluffies do show lots of emotions and seem sad and subdued today.
Sorry to hear about Maggie
Thank you 😉
