Last weekend I was lucky enough to get sent some Morrisons shopping vouchers and asked for my opinions on Morrisons prices, quality and the experience as a whole. Morrisons were extremely generous and sent hundreds of blogging parents shopping vouchers, so we could all give them a go, and look out for the “I’m Cheaper” logos. To be honest we normally shop elsewhere, but with a new store open in Gloucester this was the perfect excuse to go to M instead.
First up, an apology – I am a bad book buddy! My boys receive a book a month they are meant to review, and a pile of books is just sat next to my fireplace. So consider this a book round up if you will, catching up! All the links to buy them are in the Amazon widget* at the end of this post, or I have seen several of them in WHSmiths for less money normally than Amazon. First up… Yuck! Gross! Activities This book has lots of very boyish puzzles, colouring in a sewer maze to free a rat, Jen had fun scribbling through this book. It’s 192 pages and has an RRP of £10. Inside this disgustingly doodly, fabulously foul activity book, you’ll find everything that’s slimy, sludgy, icky and yucky! Including revolting doodles, creepy-crawly colouring and hideous how-to-draws. Plus gross mazes, puzzles and activities galore!
When Hotel Chocolat asked me if I would like a sweet treat from their Easter range I was in the dentists waiting room ironically, but of course I said “Yes please!” I went for Egg and Chips. A British classic, but not normally like this.
In the Julie’s Notebook household we’ve all been trying out the Rock face for men range. It was meant to be just my eldest son Dee trying out the range, but we have all been trying them out. Even Jen likes the body spray and shower gel. I will start by writing about products I have used myself, yes yes, I know I am not a man. One thing I will say first, is they all smell the same, which might seem a little dull, but it is actually brilliant – none of the products clash, they all match brilliantly. Think about of grooming products, some of the scents wouldn’t match so well like maybe white musk and chocolate or cucumber with coconut. Eeew!
A little while ago I was asked to review Pearl Drops instant white 4D whitening toothpaste. I was happy to give it a go as I hate my teeth, and am less than keen on dentists. The packet has one of those colour gauges and states you can change by two shades in just one week. I held the box to my teeth but decided none of these shades were my colour. Being an ex hairdresser I am used to recognising small changes in tone or colour depth.

Today, as I bet every parent knows, is World Book Day. It is a day I often dread, and I know I’m not the only parent that struggles with WBD dress up outfits. But this year its all good, Jokers masquerade online costume shop have sent us a Batman outfit for Jen. Oddly though his school aren’t dressing up today, they are doing it tomorrow instead. Confusion followed as a few kids were in fancy dress, I felt so bad for the lad in a fluffy lion suit this morning. A photo of Jen will be added here tomorrow. Recently I tried out Footner. Its a product I had never heard of that is meant to remove hard skin from your feet. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and it is a weird looking item for sure. They are a sort of plastic trainer-sock shape, with a lining soaked in a strong smelling liquid/gel. The smell isn’t bad but it is a bit chemically.
Jen was recently sent some Nemo bubbles by H&A. Video removed due to the inappropriate comments made. *yuck* Jen just enjoys mucking about in the bath, and loves any bubble bath. I have had a bath or two in it myself, so it was a thorough test. Everyone in this house has sensitivity issues, Blokey has contact dermatitis, with D, Jen and I having eczema and dry skin. Blokey didn’t want to test this, he is a shower person, not one to have baths. But the boys and I can’t fault it. The bubble bath itself was good, but the selling point of the H & A range is that the bottles have favourite characters on. For my little people I’ve found that I could buy some lovely smelling and feeling bath products, but if they don’t look fun, they aren’t going to use it! My boys like pretty packaging. […]
The lovely folks at Parragon sent D another book in the same series as the dinosaurs encyclopaedia we previously reviewed, this one is called Sharks : discover their underwater world. We have had this for a while now, and I do feel a bit guilty about taking our time to get this post published, but the wear on the books spine shows how much he likes this book. His little brother, Jen, is not a fan as he is afraid of sharks, and the photos are brilliant quality. So clear in fact we’ve had to ban D from taking this book on car journeys as he was making Jen cry.
Because we are book buddies the lovely people at Parragon books send us a book a month. This time it isn’t strictly a book, its more a craft set with a book of instructions. Dinogami is dinosaur origami. Its cute and at first I thought it looked more like a thing for Jen (age 5) and I to do together. But after page one of the instructions I quickly realised this was a mission for D (age 11) and Me. It comes with 20 sheets of pre-printed paper, so your dinos eyes and wings and things are all in the right places.
This week Jen and I have been fiddling about with expertly crafting from a ToucanBox taster box. These are little craft or project kits that come with (almost) everything you’ll need to do a set activity. We got sent this taster kit, also known as the petite. There are 3 size options available, and on the grande and super you can request extra materials so siblings can share. I think this is a fab idea really. I am someone who struggles to choose craft or activity items in the shops. I sort of stare at the shelf hoping that one or two of the sets will just hop into my basket so I don’t have to choose. Sometimes this is made easier by price labels as I love the bargains.
