Retail Royalty Challenge – Helping Charity for Free 4

When I read that MoneySuperMarket wanted to give bloggers £30 to spend on a local charity, I jumped at the chance. The idea is us bloggers get a budget of £30 (given to us by MoneySuperMarket for this challenge) but we have to try to buy more than £30’s worth of gifts or items that your local charity would like. Maximum benefit of the cash if you like! They’ve called this the #RetailRoyaltyChallenge and the winner gets a massive Harrods hamper, which I wouldn’t mind but to help a charity for free, I already feel like a winner. I decided that I wanted to help Cheltenham Animal Shelter (I’m abbreviating to CAS), you might have noticed I do love my pets, all six of them! I had a look around the Cheltenham Animal Shelter website : gawa.org.uk and discovered they had an Amazon Wishlist so had a look through at what I […]

Jen Gets Muddy #KidsGrowWild 10

This morning I received a big white box from the postman. It was recorded post too, exciting, I had to open it right away of course. This post is my entry for BritMums’ #KidsGrowWild Challenge”. I took a photo of the lovely gardening kit before the boys got their mitts on it! It had been raining most of the day, but there was a short sunny spell after cycling home from school. Perfect, I asked the boys to come outside and play. Jen was willing but I couldn’t pry D away from Mathletics on the internet. Yes, still in school uniform. We head outside with the plan being plant the seeds in flower pots and pop them into our recently purchased greenhouse to start these seeds off properly.

Hungry To Happy, Richmond Meatballs 6

Britmums asked it’s parents bloggers to come up with a no fuss, quick meal using Richmond Meatballs. I love little challenges, but what really got my attention was the chance to win a Center Parcs holiday. I would love to go there, so here goes! My youngest is a fussy eater and one of the few things he will eat is meatballs. He loves the cheap tinned ones, but the phrase “recovered meat” makes me very uncomfortable cooking those for him. But when all he really wants is breakfast cereals, chocolate spread sarnies, or meatballs, what do you do! I do whatever I can to sneak vegetables in to his diet, and it is not always easy.

30 ways to save £1 4

I noticed Jax from Liveotherwise blog about this great competition from Money supermarket and knew I had to enter. It’s called 30 ways to save £1, and the great thing about this competition isn’t the huge prize money, it is that they will give you £1 per tip, if you publish your own post on this topic before 17th of May, so what are you waiting for? Pounds, Quid, gold pieces, dosh! The first tip has to be, enter this competition yourself as soon as you have read this post! Always make sure you use the food with the shortest dates first. Throwing out a few items a week could cost you several pounds. Wash your laundry at 30 degrees when you can to save a little bit in electric bills. Try to save a little bit of gas and water (so dosh too) by shortening you shower by 10 seconds […]

#SpecialK30 – How Things Change in 30 Years 4

Did you know Special K is 30 years old? Well it is. The lovely folks at BritMums sent me a box of new recipe Special K to try out. It’s better than I remembered, to be honest I used to hate the stuff, but I was happy to munch it this morning. So much so I might even buy it on the next big shop. This is my entry for the BritMums and Special K How I’ve changed Linky challenge. Priorities.. Cuppa, munch and Hair straighteners.   THEN.. Thirty years is a long time, I was a toddler so my memory isn’t perfect. I would have been in cloth nappies still (probably), and would have been a right handful on stairs and pavements as I was an inquisitive type. But the music was brilliant in the Eighties, and I loved leg warmers and jump rope. I wanted a chopper bike, but […]

Why I Would Love a New Bathroom

Over on Tots100 they are hosting a blogging competition with Bathshop321 with the chance to win a new bathroom. Count me in! I’ve had a look over on the website and this is the suite I like… Picture from Bathshop321 We haven’t had much luck with bathrooms, remember the disaster of a bathroom I blogged photos of recently? We had a decent quality bathroom and paid for quality fixtures, and for it to be installed by their men, approximately £5000 and it wasn’t even done right! A fresh start would be awesome, rip out anything that reminds me of the local cowboys. We could keep the wall covering and the ceiling light, and my little mirrored bathroom cabinet, but everything else could go. Ok, maybe I would keep the shower as it is already installed in to the wall, but everything else needs to go! I would like everything removed, […]

Send Me To Sydney?

French Connection are running a competition where you have to make a video using clips from their advertising campaigns. In the tweet below is my entry. The most shared entries will be chosen to win prizes, with the main prize being Sydney, but some of the runners up prizes are FC vouchers, which I wouldn’t say no to. To make it easier, under my tweet I’m including the links to Share via various social media sites. Pretty please, if you’re reading this please please share using one of those links? I made a film! Share it so I can win a trip to #Sydney with @fcuk #makeascene. po.st/FdAfR7 via @po_st— Julie MRB (@JulieMRB) April 17, 2013 Share on Facebook   Share on Twitter   Share on G+  Share on Pinterest

Very Cool Comp, Win a Space Flight!!

I just claimed my place in space. Help me win and enter for yourself. (COMPETITION ENDED, I DIDN’T WIN, BUT WAS WORTH A TRY) 😀KLM airlines have a competition perfect for sci-fi fans, space, seriously nerd heaven!! It’s an impossible version of spot the ball, but whoever flukes the best guess wins.. Where and how high will a giant weather balloon go, weather and wind will effect this. Even a weather balloon expert isn’t likely to guess it correctly, but someone will be the closest. I had a wild guess myself. Go on, have a try. For everyone who I can get to use my link, my guessed “place in space” becomes slightly bigger. Good luck if you do have a go, hurry though, it ends in five days.

Time to Get Growing

Tots100 have set another blogger challenge so I thought I’d join in.Any old excuse to get out in the garden. The tots100 challenge is to blog anything to do with growing. It’s for a chance to win a center parks family break, so how could I resist. This follows on from my recent post It’s Raining It’s Pouring where the weather hindered my gardening plans.Cheap bulbs, from Wilko. Seed multipack from a pound shop. Mixed up bulbs, like lucky dip. I do not do perfect straight line planting in my garden. First I dug over the messy messy flower bed. We have clay based soil, which is heavy and clumps together awfully. To combat this I often dig holes and fill them with home made compost, which is why you might see bits of sawdust and hay mixed in the soil. It’s slowly helping fix the issue. Pre dig photo. My […]

Travelling with the Kids, In-Car Entertainment 1

@travelsupermkt  #JollyJourneys Competition with @Tots100    I read on Tots100 that TravelSupermarket are after travelling tips for keeping little folks busy in the back seats on long journeys. Well, this is right up my street.   We drive to places like Wales, Devon or Cornwall for holidays. We are normally going camping, so the boot is often pretty full. Where we drive to, Cornwall On the longer journeys we have in car DVD players we recently purchased, but we only take a few films. Its for boredom relief if we get stuck in traffic, rather than the main entertainment option.   Often we talk for the first hour or so. Car Snap is Jen’s favourite game. This means he watches every car we pass and shouts snap as fast as he can if he sees the same make or model. When we are in Daddy’s car we don’t allow the colour […]

The Daxon £200 Outfit Challenge 2

I love these blogger challenges, Daxon has asked members of its blogger network (see my badge on the toolbar?) to try to make a nice outfit for under £200. Mine comes in at £197 or £199.95 including delivery not bad going I thought. The best bit, one of the Daxon bloggers who have a go at this challenge will win the outfit they have chosen. I never get to spend money on clothes so I’m up for it… First thing I decided was that I wanted it to be a Spring look. The British weather didn’t get the Memo that went round that Winter should be over! Hint Hint. Anyways…. I’ve done for a grey-ish and pale brown theme here, and I would wear this lot together. I started with Capri jeans, I liked the quirky finishing at the bottoms. Also they are in a tall range, so they won’t […]

Heads up, Big Competition on Lifeinabreakdown

The lovely Sarah from Life in a breakdown blog is co-hosting a big blogger giveaway. It is being run across several blogs, with the main aim being to get new people to follow them on BlogLovin’.   The prizes are gift cards / gift codes for Etsy, Amazon, Paypal  and Target. The target prize isn’t open to the UK but the terms state you can have it as Paypal instead if you are in places like the UK where target doesn’t exist. This competition ends on 3rd April 2013. It is split into 4 different Rafflecopters, and if you followed every single blog and pintrest would take you hours, my advice just choose one blogger per rafflecopter group and follow them. There are thousands of entries but you’ve got to be in it to win it as they say. Good luck if you enter.
