Child making me feel guilty…

According to little Jen I’m a bad mother because I said he has to go to school. He has BoyFlu and he’s really playing on it. He’s not even got a temperature just the snot and sniffles. As l mentioned yesterday my bike tyre gave up. So instead of me giving him a lift on this bitter morning we had to walk. Cue twenty mins of this! Screaming like a banshee the entire way. Leaning towards traffic as we walked. He wouldn’t hold my hand, instead I was required to keep a vice like grip on his little hand to keep him safe. Not stopping screaming once not even when he was telling me I’m nasty, mean and a horrid mummy. Why wont he just believe me… School is compulsory. I get to school and his teachers are sickly nice towards him. Almost validating his reasons for a strop. “Come […]

Little one got a train surprise this morning

My boys, as I’m sure I’ve mentioned like trains. Have a peek at what they’ve just got! It’s got station buildings and a tunnel, roads and little people. Tons of trees and other detail. Knowing how much just this much track and controllers cost, we got a blinding good deal. Plus the hours of work we don’t have to waste 😛 http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=290841219729

Review, Red Rover and other games from Mattel

I was lucky enough to be sent 3 board games by and Mattel. I use the word board loosely, as there was no board, but you know what I mean. I’m going to start by talking about Red Rover (£21.99 at Toys r us) I was honestly expecting this game to be a bit boring and the kids to not be interested. I was wrong! apparently it has been advertised on children’s tv and my youngest (aged 4) actually nicked it. I had put it in my room, and was going to wait for a quiet time and check it out myself first, then have the boys play with it. No chance! He wanted it a lot.

A nice day out on the trains?

Today we are at Winchcombe station. Hubby is driving a train, something he’s wanted to do for years. His work are paying, something they call personal development fund. Employees are allowed an expensive experience day. So here we are, the preserved railway known as the GWR. That is Gloucestershire-Warwickshire Railway not the famous old Great Western Railway. For the kids and me this is a boring day. Sat in a train carriage being pulled by the class 20 diesel engine Hubby is driving. Would have been OK, except D is off on one. I seriously think the boy has aspergers and I can not cope with his bratty temper tantrums. We are in an old BR train carriage, the kind with compartments. So i am effectively locked in a small place with 2 kids. Jen just wants his big brother to stop being aggressive and evil, OK Jen is no saint […]

Playing in the city center 2

Some photos of my boys mucking about. We were all meant to be sitting quietly and calmly to eat lunch, we had gone for a bike ride and went to Greggs as a treat. Soon resulted in hop/skip/jump and chase the pigeons. 😉

Jenny suddenly likes bird watching 5

Little Jen has decided he likes the birds. We regularly feed them bread etc, and we have a feeder spike with seeds and peanuts on just out of cats reach. Jenny has realised that one young blackbird is less afraid of him than other birds are. This blackbird allows him to get as near as about 5 feet away! Other slightly trusting locals are a mother great tit (we think its the one that nests in our guttering), and a starling. Here are some photos of Jenny trying to sneak up on his feathered friends. In one you can see the blackbird in flight by the street light. In another look at the top of the feeder spike, Jenny’s friend is perched there very close to him. Here he is waiting… Checking in the tree, you never know?! Look just by the lamp post bulb His friendy is […]

Random kindness last weekend at the Rugby

We go to Gloucester rugby matches almost every weekend they play at home, last weekend was the last match of our season and just before the match another fan nearly reduced me to tears. He came over to me, and stood there, I was wondering what he was upto and thought he was trying to nick Hubby’s space as he had just popped to the loo. I soon felt guilty as he says ” I wonder if your youngest would like this? Is it ok if I give it to him? ” Now I understand people can be funny about presents from strangers, but this was just so kind. The gift was a Jenson Button BrawnGP cap! Jen was pretty pleased and has been running around with it on, proudly yelling things like “I’m as fast as Jenson Button mum!” And “is this what Jenson Button wore when he winned […]

My Cars 2 fan 2

Little Jen has been banging on about Lewis Hamilton’s character in Cars 2. He watches the DVD about once a week, has has been know to sleep hugging a Cars jigsaw puzzle! Definately the boys favourite film. There is a small set of toy cars at around £4 to £5, similar sizing to Hot Wheels but not quite. Jen already has Lightening McQueen, Mater and Francesco… but had seen Lewis in photos on the back of other cars packaging. He really wanted Lewis, but seems he was rare. I had never seen one “in the flesh” until this weekend. I had read other cars fans in Twitter struggling to get a Lewis car. @f1_LewisFan I’m looking at you! He saw that photo you tweeted ages ago as he was next to me.There are none in sainsburys, Asda, argos, Debenhams, or toys are us! So Jen went shopping with daddy on […]

Review for Cubby Kit. Complete boxed up craft projects. 4

PLEASE NOTE, cubby kit have sadly gone out of business, but I am leaving it here as it was a lovely idea, and I love the photos. Recently the postman knocked with a rather large cardboard box, with pale blue printing on it to look like an old fashioned suitcase. He never gets things arrive addressed to him, so was a treat! Suitcase design on box (Jen had chicken pox in photos, sorry) The quality of the items in CubbyKits are really good, I was really impressed to find pencils and child scissors included…. often “complete” craft kits don’t have things like glue or child sized scissors, assuming every parent already has those, well I didn’t! So thanks muchly for those scissors, better than the ones his big brothers school use for sure. Some items in each kit could be kept after the CubbyKit is finished. Some of the Contents […]

Sleepy time tips 2

How do you get your children to sleep? My boys share a room and have bunk beds, this was a bad idea with a 6 year age gap! The little one doesn’t understand that his big bro needs some kip before getting up early for school. Top 3 tips that work for us. 1, Offer the boys drinks about half an hour before bed time, as you can guarantee they are going to start on “Mummy I NEEEED a drinky before bed.” as soon as you say bed time.2, no computers, DS, or DVDs within half hour before bed time either.3, Most importantly, I stagger the times they go upstairs to bed. If they go together they will argue. Best thing is our eldest goes to bed first as he’s asleep soon after he lays down, then toddler follows him and it won’t matter how long babe chatters nonsense for. […]
