What A Difference A Day Makes!

Yesterday Jen was being cute and chatty. Today he’s been stamping, screeching and trashing things. I removed the cardboard box (from my other post) so that I could attempt to tidy the front room. It was at a point I could no longer cope with the mess…. Then he poured his drink of water over his hotwheels track, proudly announcing “My cars can skid now!” I wasn’t as impressed by this as he was expecting. That was the final straw, a soaking wet carpet. “Please tidy up now. You knew water play is for the garden or bath.”

I Did It! 5

Ok, I’m ok! I did it, I said I would do it. I jumped from a plane, at 13,000 feet! Yes I screamed, yes I cried, yes I swore like a solider, but I’m proud of me. I did it for charity and today the sponsorships increased in a lovely way. Thank you all. Thank you to the lovely people that donated, thank you to those that made #MMskydive trend on twitter, thank you to the other bloggers, and thank you anyone I’ve missed.

Volcano Cake by Jen 3

Kids bored? Want to bake something easy, but still messy and fun? Well here is the cake my son made this weekend. Step one make normal cake mixture, we went with chocy as it looks like mud. You want the cake raised and cracked on top, like double chocy muffins in shops. While the cake is cooling mix up some icing sugar and water. Split in to two little cups or bowls and add yellow colouring to one, red colouring and vanilla flavouring into the to other.

Big Night In – Mice, Chips and Cluedo 4

The lovely folks at MoneySuperMarket let me and my boys participate in another blogger challenge. Thanks guys, you are EPIC! #msmBigNightIn For this challenge they kindly wired (ok PayPal’ed) me Fifty Squids to spend on a family night in. We bought two retro board games that Blokey and I liked as kids, with the plan being fish and chips from the nice local takeaway. So at Blokey’s knocking-off time at work we phoned him to give him our dinner orders to get on his drive home. Jen wanted jumbo sausage and chips, Blokey, D and I all had haddock and chips. The fish was huge, too big, felt wasteful. And a bottle of coke, the real coke not an own brand version as its a treat.

Overheard Conversations You Want To Butt In To 2

Its school sports day for Dee, there are approximately a hundred parents crammed close together on plastic chairs. One side of me I’m being pushed by a fidgety teen holding a toddler – I feel uncomfortable. The other side, a mum and a nan to a child in Dee’s year. For a while they went on about parents who never come to these kind of things. Well I don’t normally! I used to work, I wouldn’t be allowed a few hours off on a working day like today, I worked in a place that was always single-staffed. Then they continue the rant bringing shift workers in to it…. Thanks! Guess what I used to do shifts. She was saying to the Nan that shift workers should arrange their “split” in the shift around sports days. I’ve never been offered such a choice actually. Workers have to do what the boss […]

Tardis of a bag

What’s In My Handbag?

I don’t know about you readers, but my handbag is like a tardis. I usually manage to cram rather a lot of junk in there, some of it is useful things, keys etc, some of it are things I feel I need, such as make up, then some of it is dumped in there by the kids, such as Lightening McQueen cars or sweetie wrappers. So when I came across another of MoneySuperMarket’s blogger challenges I knew I had to join in really…. If you’re thinking of entering too, hurry up, it ends at midnight tonight so not long at all.

I Accidentally Killed Two Baby Mice :-( 2

Over the last few months mice have stolen our garage. So I needed to evict them, but I love rodents (except rats) so I bought some “Live catch” traps. After a few weeks of trying I caught one. Being the soppy moo I am, I had to release it somewhere nice, where it stood a chance. The instructions says a mile or more from where was caught or homing instincts will lead it back. I had this mouse trap in a cotton bag on my lap whilst Blokey drove the car. It was about twenty miles until I saw a location I was happy with. A layby with a deep trench next to it. “Stop here” I say.
