Jen and D received a lovely retro gift in the post thanks to Oxfam. It is a boxed set of glass “days-gone-by” marbles, although marbles aren’t modern, and unlikely to appeal to the 3DS generation my lads like them. On our recent holiday to Devon Jen wanted to buy marbles from every little gift shop we went near. As we were camping we refused to buy any, as we knew if they were lost camping in the woods there would be many tears and sniffling. After years being a bit anti the charity shoe box schemes I’ve decided I will give a box to a girl overseas. This change of heart is entirely MichelleTwinMum’s doing. Last year she went with Operation Christmas Child, (or OCC for short) to Belarus to see how they operate and who gets the shoebox parcels. I was asked if I’d like to take part in Alex and Alexa #SpookyFruit competition as pumpkins totally hog the limelight in October, and the rest of the fresh fruit and veggies are feeling left out! As we saw there were Lego storage heads in the first prize we had to join in. I’ve made an early start on Christmas presents and have a few people’s gifts sorted already. The gift I’m proudest of, and a blindingly good price are these photos for family. The photo collage prints cost 99p each for 10 x 8 inch on snapfish, and the frames are from poundland, and it’s a real glass window on it, not perspex as I would have expected of a cheap item.

Well twitter was a fun place tonight. An awful lot of people are deeply offended, upset, angered or plain livid with ASDA and Tesco. If you missed it I’m sure you’ll read about it soon. It’s not the costume that offends me so much as the name. Mental patient. I’m a mental patient actually, thanks ASDA. Read Nickie’s post on this costume. It has offended me and I am not really buying ASDAs “sorry” tweets. Way to go, fuel stigma and prejudice.   Do I look mental? Is there a uniform my psychotherapist forgot to issue me with? If I was cooking and had a big knife would that be a Halloween worthy look? Can you tell by looking at me I’m nuts? Mental? Medicated?

Firstly, I know it is only May but it is time to get thinking about Father’s Day. It will be upon us before we know it. The best plan, as with Mother’s day and Birthdays is to buy early and avoid having to buy a petrol station greetings card and a bunch of scruffy flowers. I often forget important days, which is where the calendar app in my Android is so helpful. This year I am informed it falls on Sunday 16th of June. So stick it in your diaries ladies and jellybeans. Well it’s birthday season in mine and my partners families. Most of the birthdays fall between April and July! So not a bad time to discover Baker Days really. They send cute personalised cakes through the post, and it was just the right size to fit through the letter box. I was actually having a lie in when the corrugated cardboard box hit my hallway floor with a thump, but the content was unharmed. 10 out of 10 there, you can buy a cake as a surprise and not have to ask the recipient to stay in and look out for the postie. I choose chocolate cake as you might expect I would, with a lovely pattern and some butterflies and roses. It didn’t start perfect, Jen wet his bed in the night, thankfully his bed has special sheets on and it worked well (a review on that to follow soon). So in the night he came into my bed when I was asleep, the smell of wee woke me, at which point was too late as he’d been lying in my bed for long enough to let his soaked pjs get my bed stinky and wet. Lovely… First task of mothers day, lots of washing including both quilts.Wish he’d stayed in his bed. So much fake lovey dovey stuff is forced in our faces from mid January to make you buy over priced and largely tatt tokens of affection. I don’t want chocolates in a heart shaped box, or a cheaply made teddy bear just because it’s hugging a heart cushion. It’s everywhere, and this year I am NOT playing this Valentine’s game! This is going to be a rant, a personal one. If you know my in real life kindly stop reading.
