Yesterday I found out about a site called Stuffster.com from a twitter buddy, I thought to myself “That’s an odd name” and then looked into what the site was about. I headed first to the Twitter Stuffster page, and then had a peek about the main website.  Stuffster in a pictorial nutshell.. Its a shopping tool, a bit like a funky hybrid of an auction sites watch list system and a comparison site and an Internet wish-list. You add products, from almost any site to your Stufflists, and set a desired price. I need work, whilst I don’t think I can hold a normal job at the moment, the classic 9-5 is not right for me I do need some sort of income, sooo.. Here goes.. Typing away…. I have been out of work since October with depression and mental health. This in no way stops me writing or blogging but definitely impacts on my daily life, in particular speaking to people in person is very hard for me and leaving my house alone. Yesterday my partner also got bad employment news. We thought he was lined up to be made redundant, which wouldn’t have been great news, but there would have been a redundancy payout by the company so that would have actually been OK. Zoflora have seen me a bottle of their Spring Time fragranced concentrated disinfectant 3 in 1 action.This comes in a small carton with a little bottle in, the thing is you make up the solution with water yourself at home, so this little bottle makes nearly 5 litres of cleaning fluid, its much easier to carry a small package home than a few litres of ready mixed cleaners.  Image from Zoflora.co.uk The instructions say you mix it at 1 to 40 ratio in water, so grab yourself a 1 litre spray bottle (my spray bottle below was one I had in the garage, and had only ever been used with plain tap water to water house plants). A little while ago bzzagent sent me some Vanish oxi-action to try out. I figure I should have posted photos ages ago, I’ve been using it on anything awkward before going in the washing machine or just bunging as scoop in the soap draw. I’ve found it not only shifts or helps lessen the appearance of visible stains, but fades smells lingering in fabrics better than washing powder does. For example towels I’ve used to dry the pets after a wash often smell horrid despite a wash. The staining. Fresh home made Tikka masala. This has ruined my boys clothing in the past. After deciding I was playing strict with the boys recently, I found out about a lovely reward chart site, called Personalised Reward Charts.There were a few different background designs but I went with the Pirate one, and had a photo of both boys put on it. It’s well laminated and came with a dry wipe pen and some star stickers. You can have the days of the week pre printed on it too, but I preferred not to then we can start mid week if we like. The charts are a very reasonable £3, and mine arrived in just a few days. There are lots of designs, football, cartoon dinosaurs, the pirates one we chose and girlie ones such as butterflies and princesses.I wrote down the tasks I’m hoping he does more often, and as the bribery I have offered him a Lightening McQueen model car he really wants. Little Jen as I recently mentioned might look cute but he is making bedtime hell in this house. Most nights Jen refuses to go to bed, sleeping anywhere except his bed. Most nights this means he’s asleep on the sofa after an argument. If I get him into bed chances are he will cry in the night and come into my room… Then there’s the bed wetting. Yup, that’s still going on! In the battle of wills, he definitely inherited my stubbornness, and often he wins not me. I’m getting tough now though, I have a nice man who has been visiting me to help improve my parenting skills. He is teaching me how to keep chilled even when the boys are throwing strops. So proud of my Mr Smartie Pants, we got a letter this weekend saying he was one of the boys accepted in to (in my opinion) the best school in the area. One of the reasons we bought this house was the number of schools nearby, some better than others, much better. A Boys only Grammar school. From what D has said it seems only he and one other boy in his school were actually selected by the grammar school.  Gold star for my Son!!! Go D!!! Its brilliant news, I thought I had messed up my lads chances, as the entrance exam was on the weekend back in October when I wanted to throw myself from windows. I refused to accompany him to the exam as I couldn’t face going outside, I let him down. Thankfully his Dad took him there and waited to pick him up after […]

World Book Day. Noooo! 3

Ok, I’m a little cheesed off now. Jen said he wanted to dress up for WBD and I’ve come up with a cheap plan for him. I bought a basic pirate outfit on eBay for £6.50 and I’m borrowing D’s crocodile teddy. Voila! A Peter pan pirate. He thinks he’s Hook, and he adores the TickTock croc bit as a Jake and the Neverland pirates fan. Sorted, outfit already on the way, due midweek. This morning D gets ratty about borrowing this croc and snatches him back. Cue a war between the boys, marvellous. :-/ Then D proclaims despite his non interest so far he suddenly needs an outfit, not wants but needs it. Panic! Ebay wants nearly £20 for anything book-ish in D’s size, plus its a bit late to rely on postage. I’m stuck!

I was very happy to be contacted and asked if I would review a photo on canvas company. Brilliant timing as I was considering buying some canvas prints of my boys as I haven’t printed anything for such a long time. The downside to digital media. When I checked out the YourImage2Canvas.co.uk website I was pleasantly surprised by the prices, not only were many of the canvases reduced but they also had a 3 for 2 offer on.This meant I got a Medium and 2 smaller canvases for under £50 which is amazing. Outside it might be cold wet and grey, but today I feel a bit better. At the moment the kids and I are watching Madagascar 3 on DVD from Lovefilm. It’s rather a daft film. Monkeys in costumes dressed as the king of Versailles! We’ve just had sarnies, chocolate, fruit and crisps. An indoor picnic if you will, me and my boys watching cartoons. 🙂

The National Railway Museum is hosting nine days of Big Fun with Little Trains this February half term (not all counties have half term next week, here in Gloucestershire it’s half term this week). Just a few of my boys toy trains…. From 16- 24th February, the National Railway Museum is having a celebration of toys and model trains. Children of all ages (including the grown up kind) will be enthralled by the range of little locos from children’s pedal trains, to rides on indoor and outdoor miniature railways* that the whole family can enjoy. My boys both loved the outdoor trains when they were smaller. Children will be able to get hands-on in the museum play areas and enjoy rides of all shapes and sizes. Devon Camping is Booked 3

Most summer holidays, in the last fortnight, we go away camping to Cornwall. This year we are going somewhere slightly different, Devon. Okay, it’s not massively different geographically but its much closer in time as we can get there almost entirely on the M5. The A30 is OK, until its not, and then you are stuck in long queues with no way around it. So this year, no thanks. In August we will go to Dart River camp site, near the moors. Within the camp site itself there is a few adventure playgrounds, and other cool things like canoeing, rope climbs and zorbing. Sounds pretty good as several of these on site activities are included in the price of camping. We will still be near beaches, sadly pebble beaches not sand. There will be the moorland to explore with a picnic rucksack. Something different from the city for the boys. […]
